Eric I watched your video as I had same issue trying to jump the ports Through a little trial and error I found that by taking the screw out of the large gear I could turn the shaft to the point that opened the solenoid allowing an easy way to control the flow of either air or antifreeze, owner choice 2019 Mesa Ridge Frigidaire residential refrigerator

FYI, RV antifreeze DOES freeze. The temp on the bottle is the burst temp.

Only if you get down to -60 to -100F. I doubt that most people will experience that level of cold.

Thanks, we went down the same path and this was exactly the issue!

Thanks, great video. My application is a little different because my fridge is in a summer lake house that we don't use in the winter. Any thoughts on how can I get the fridge to pick up the antifreeze while I cycle the water and ice solenoids?

Pick up a small pump at a farm store and hook it up to the fridge water line. I would recommend using this pump on all of your plumbing, not just the fridge.

Great video... I put a jumper wire across LV and water started to flow for a short while but I ran out of antifreeze... when I refilled the water tank with the pink stuff and tried again a couple of days later, absolutely nothing happened... I’m wondering if the motor burned out or if the water supply somehow iced up and blocked, but that seems unlikely, as the unit is powered off now, so completely defrosted... could also be a blown solenoid or water supply valve but open to thoughts/suggestions?

I'd make sure the pump primed with the new antifreeze. Also make sure the fridge is turned on, otherwise the solenoid will not open.

Hi Eric - Thanks for the video. Very helpful! I have the same exact refrigerator but I’m struggling with how to get the ice cube tray cover off to get to the L and V ports. This should be simple but I’ve not been able to figure out how to get it off and I don’t want to break something. Any insight would be much appreciated!

Hi Doug, it's been a couple of years since I've done this kind of work, I shut down my business and moved to take care of a family member with bad health, but as I remember the cover just pulled off the front with no screws. You might make it easier on yourself by removing the ice maker from the freezer so you can get better eyes on the cover and where the ports are before hooking it back up to winterize it. Good luck!

What is the jumper to dewinterize?
@ericshop2 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry I didn't see your question for so long, using the same jumper but with water instead of antifreeze should work the same, let it overflow the cube cups and maybe mop them out with a paper towel or towel so it'll start fresh without antifreeze in the cups.

So if the ice maker is that easy to remove, why not just take it out, pump a little anti freeze through the line and call it good. Then put it back in spring?
@ericshop2 жыл бұрын
There is a valve on the back of the fridge that is activated by the ice maker, you can't just pump antifreeze through the line without activating that valve.
