Basically Wintersun can play almost every damn metal subgenre. I thought black was out of their reach, but Holy Shit, that was incredible :D. when i bought the album... i was instantly in awe and shock. i couldn't comprehend this song. even looking back, i skipped it for a very long time. now i just can't get enough of it. to feel what occured inside of me to understand the meaning of such a powerful display at age 26. the part starting at 6:20 or so and the solo sends my soul into a totally different form of ecstasy. i feel understood.. no further words are needed at all. thanks to this melody, i can live in absolute peace in this life. thank you for such a masterpiece🙏

I fail to get why this song is accotiated with black metal - yes, it has wall of sound crafted by drums (they sound too plastic to my ear by the way), but I can't hear dirty and raw guitar riffs, which to me is the most vital part in black metal sound. Guitars are too low in the mix, drums are way repetitive. I mean, if we take a look at new wave of black metal (Wiegedood for instance), this song has almost nothing to do with it. Don't get me wrong, huge Wintersun fun here, but in my books black metal should sound way different.

I adore the guitar solo in this one....Not just for the playing, but for the placement. It's perfectly embraced by the atmosphere of the song...becoming part of it...one of the most appropriately positioned sequence in recent memory. It breaks the beautiful silence. From my point of view, each piece is superior to the last on this album; my least favorite is Spring, then (in ascending order) Summer, Fall, and at the top is Winter. Fall is the angriest, the most pure Black Metal; but Winter is the definitive sorrowful, pained sound. It encapsulates its theme, Loneliness.

It actually is. Time is not even complete yet, but first part was a masterpiece, self titled was a masterpiece too, but at least for me, TFS is in another level. The atmosphere, the pure anger in Eternal Darkness, the melancholy and sadness in Loneliness are just unreal. I never heard something approach to this level of expressiveness. It actually is their masterpiece.

This album is just amazing. All around perfect, but then again this is Wintersun, so it shouldn't come as a surprise. Each one has a well executed theme. I personally love this and winter the most, but like I said, the entire album is just perfect. Good work!

Damn, when I first listened to this song, I didn't know or expect what's coming at me :D I was already a hardcore Wintersun fan and as I heard these brutal blastbeats covering a black metal-like progression, I thought it's not gonna be a very memorable Wintersun-song for me. First listening was with reading the lyrics simultaneously, and it was kinda too "massive" for me even though I listen to all kind of metal: black, death, symphonic, melodic etc. I couldn't "decypher" the sudden ending either, I though the file I downloaded from the IndieGoGo link was corrupted, so I though I'm gonna drop this one. But the lyrics were just too impressive, I read about the ending too and so it made a lot of sense for me in the end (and I thought to myself immediately: "damn, this is genious!") and I also wanted to understand this whole song and it just kept bugging me... and also, the "Dark Dream" guitar section was coming back forever in my mind, literally "haunting darkness". So I listened to it again and again while reading the lyrics, and it kinda made it into my favourive Wintersun songs (taking place no.1 together with Sadness and Hate, Sons of Winter and Stars, Starchild and Loneliness). And of course, my brain was literally absorbing the whole song, music and lyrics at the same time, and in a few weeks' time I was shouting out my throat at the Budapest gig in 2017 :D (this one and all other songs, of course!) This one truly is a masterpiece with a very deep interpretation of life&death as part of the cycle of life, with Death being the narrator, approaching this whole thing from the aspect of Death itself and it has some very interesting "poetic images" - if I may say - as well... lest we speak about the music itself, which is, to simply put: grandiose, impressive and massive, and very carefully composed up to the tiniest details. Not to mention the isolated Orchestration track which I often listen in itself, and when it is merged with the Vocal track... hell, it is just beautiful.

Psycho Gaming because the autumn in Finland is more darkness than the winter. This is white and sunny and peaceful, but the autumn is horrible, the days are nights, the sun never raise. Finland weather is different than the other regions.

The Forest Seasons describe what a year in finland is like. Its hard to compare this to other parts of the world. As someone living in finland, i can tell you that every minute of the album perfectly resembles what the seasons are doing to us emotionally. The best captured one for me is Spring. Listening to Awaken from the dark Slumber in finnish spring made me cry.
