800 individual tracks in a DAW with plugins would cripple most available CPUs available at retail to be fair... the real question is why do his songs need that many tracks... surely 60% of those tracks blur into the soundscape...
@BERIALWIGLAF4 ай бұрын
@@jackoconnor6797 You might think that, but they are still there, your brain catches all those subtle edetails subconciously and that adds to the experience of listening to jari's music, try listening to the orchestrations isolated, adn I'm sure you'll start catching much more details the next time you listen to all of the tracks together.

@harihabicht62514 ай бұрын
@@jackoconnor6797 Some points I wanna add. A more fair comparison in my opinion would be a movie soundtrack at mixing stage. I totally get that it sounds ludicrous compared to the typical metal production, but is it really that insane if you look at it in the greater context of what today's media production is capable of? I mean... virtually any sound design session can easily have up to several hundred tracks, even if it's just a short film. Track count by itself isn't really an indication of how processing heavy a project is anyway. The devil is in the details. What plugins are used. What's the architecture behind them. In terms of efficiency, so much has changed over the last few years and I believe that is precisely why Jari got Time II done now, even though it was 'only' mixed in the so called semi-studio. About the soundscape blur ... that's kinda hard to tell without an A B comparison, which would be interesting. Perhaps someone can tinker together a "light" mix version with the isolated tracks. In all seriousness though, I would argue that it's not really a fair question to ask whether all those subtle elements are REALLY necessary, because that's a big gray area between artistic choice and technical possibilities. And to be honest... this 'overproduced', super dense and complex style of music - isn't that precisely what people are here for?

Lots of fluff on this album. Maybe 15-17 mins or real music. The rest is just long intros, outtros, sound effects and the same riff over and over. Very little transitions here as they have done in the past. I'm bored with it after my 4th listen. Much more basic versions of stuff we have heard before. The muscianship is amazing and the solos are incredible. But the meat and bones of the song structures are weak overall. Nothing will ever match their flawless debut. Jari knows how to take an EP worth of old music, fluff it up and put it out as Time II. Still a fan, just calling it what it is.

Jari is talking nonsense. With computers back in 2010 you could put many heavy plugins on tracks, not just "one eq" or so as he said. I've been making music since mid 90's with computers so I know bullshit when I hear it. Maybe he lacked skills but he definately didn't lack computer power. Or maybe he didn't have money to buy other than lousy market laptop Acer or some other piece of shit.

Ok try to put a bunch of heavy plugins on hundreds of tracks and see how that works out. Don't get me wrong, he's probably not working as efficiently as he could and I'm also questioning if I can even hear all those tracks, but it makes sense that the computer will not handle it at some point. I've been recording guitar for a while as well and some plugins can eat a lot of resources.
