There's a term that's perfect for describing Wintersun's combo of brutal metal and wicked pretty melody, and it's "Brutiful." This is a great song, and you should definitely check out "Time" from the same studio/session. Time is my favourite, and reactors love it too. Kai (the drummer) and Jukka (bass) are now happily part of Nightwish by the way. Jukka replaced Marko and he's touring with NIghtwish at the moment.

Time is the best song Wintersun has this far. Fingers crossed for Time II but I'm not holding my breath and I wouldn't suggest anybody else to do that either because it could _still_ take multiple years.

Great reaction dude! Thank you 👏🏻 Magnificent stuff, if a little overwhelming at first! If you enjoyed this, I too, cannot recommend the song Time from the same session, strongly enough. For middle aged metal heads like myself, it’s the accumulation of all the influences of the bands I grew up loving, Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth etc. A remarkable realisation of what metal can be. For me Sons of Winter and Stars was at the beginning too much. It has grown in me a lot. I have listened it very very much. There is so much to unpack. Time from same rehearsals for me is the best metal song ever... period. 🤘🏼 Also Land of Snow and Sorrow is really great! 😎 Wintersun is finnish metal band and Jari Mäenpää (guitar) is mastermind behind the band. Wintersun started as his soloproject while he was still playing in Ensiferum. Other wizards are Teemu Mäntysaari (guitar, backing vocals), Jukka Koskinen (bass, backing vocals, also current basist of Nightwish) and human metronome Kai Hahto (drums, current drummer of Nightwish also).

Excellent reaction. The lyrics of this song are fabulous, telling a tale of a journey to fight a battle/war and all the questions and doubts that follow. Kai puts on a master class of drumming (and the other musicians are also pretty good). I am normally not a fan of growling, but the mix of clean vocals and growls Jari does in this song really fits the vibe and flow of the song. As many others have pointed out, Kai the drummer and Jukka the bass player are both part of Nightwish now. I am not sure if they will also contribute to Wintersun, but according to fakebook Jari is working on multiple new albums right now.

Great reaction as always Sir! This masterpiece was on their 2nd album. But for what it's worth, I consider their debut album one of the greatest Metal debut albums ever recorded. Seriously. Cheers!

Wintersun brings back the feeling of early Progressive Rock when 15 to 20 minute suites with 50 changes were the norm

Yeah, Wintersun's Finnish Musicians (Wintersun is 100% Finnish Band) Drummer Kai Hahto replaced Jukka Nevalainen in Drums in Nightwish (also Finnish Band) on year 2015 and Bassist Jukka Koskinen replaced Marko Hietala in Nightwish on 2021 and both are permanent members of Nightwish and touring worldwide at the moment. Nightwish previous players both had to retire from Nightwish mostly because of Health issues. Wintersun is on hold as a band at the moment, both Kai and Jukka can continue to play in it as a side project as long as Nightwish remains the priority, the Wintersun founder and lead man Jari Mäenpää has not revealed his future plans of the Band yet, so remains to be seen.. VERY great and skilled musicians all of them, always enjoyed to listen to them! There is a Drumcam video in YT of this song, where you can see how Kai Hahto is slaying the Drums with Ultra Speed.

According to the Wintersun fakebook page, Jari is working on multiple albums right now so they are hardly "on hold. ALBUMS UPDATE (Oct. 5th) Album 1 70% done (currently working on) Album 2 60% done Album 3 60% done Album 4 20% done TIME II 90 % done"

@@kimmikke_ no issues, not trying to dump on you, just wanted people to know Wintersun is alive and well. I am curious to see if Kai and Jukka continue or if Jari finds new members. Haven't seen anything related to that, but I am afraid with the Nightwish commitments they may be replaced. One good thing, Finland has a LOT of excellent metal musicians. BTW, saw something a few weeks ago, can't recall where, that Time II should be out in 2023.
