Living in a place that has 4 seasons this is a perfect song to represent Autumn. All the beauty of spring and summer slowly dies during Autumn. It is both beautiful and frighting at the same time because you know what is coming. You said the song went on too long for you that is what Autumn and Winter feels like. The days are so short and the nights so long it seems like they will never end and you will never see spring again.

This album also describes Jari's personal life as his father passed away. Eternall Darkness (Autumn) showcases how the death is always in our lives and when it comes it just stops like in the end of this great masterpiece. Loneliness (Winter) comes next, like the sorrow and all the feelings it keeps inside.. This album is A Masterpiece, it shows how Finlands nature and Finns mentality goes hand in hand, we are part of this nature.

With the intro, I imagine dark clouds surrounding the sun, and as soon the blast beats come in I imagine heavy rain storm, leaves flying everywhere and thunder. I also saw all of this happen once when I was listening to this song so that makes it cooler

I imagine a blizzard. Being from greenland, I feel the dark night blizzard that gives you the hopeless disaster of cold and howling wind with eerie sadness of not ever making it out.

As a plant biochemist I couldn't agree more to your description of "emotion" from a trees' perspective undergoing the preparation on a cellular level to survive the coming winter ;) Great reaction and I am glad that there are at least some reactors out there who understand this track. Of course, no one has to like it as no one has to like autumn either as it is part of the point of the track...I guess. For me as a scientist the whole album is basically the physiology of a forest during the seasonal cycle of a year put into music. I love it and often play it on loop while I am working in the lab \m/

Yes, autumn is very dark and depressing in finland, usually accompanied by a lot of rain so everything is just gray for many months before snow falls

Jari has such an amazing talent to capture feelings in songs. In Autumn everything around u seems to die, relentless, eternal..at the same time its kinda beautiful with the colors and calmness. But still there is always that "end of the world and life" feeling. Thats why u get the feeling of ur energy gets sucked out..thats why u couldnt take it, cuz just like that feels Autumn sometimes. Just like Autumn is cursing u for even being alive. Just amazing and outstanding that one brain can create such a composition. And i rly rly like that u got it, that u can restart the album and realize the circle :) Thats how seasons work. Now Winter is about to come..after death..after the loss of something important..and u find urself alone in deep snow and without sun......

Finland has four clear seasons, each with its own flavour. Although temperature has risen perhaps a bit like everywhere else. This album is great in my mind to portray the mindset and atmosphere of each season. And mentality of Finns 😜. Frolicking summers, dark most of the year 😆.

The autumn is definitely very dark in Finland. The days are getting shorter and shorter and colder and colder but there's no snow yet, which would brighten the days so the song is very appropriate. Everything begins to die in the nature, hence the death theme. About the length. Many criticizes Wintersun songs for their length and I get that. Personally I love that the songs are not rushed and they take exactly as long as they need to for what they mean to convey with lyrics and atmosphere and instrumentation. No compromises.

I sometimes call out dark winter season "Heavy metal season" 🤗 But in all frankness, there are also very beautiful sunny days on all seasons in Finland. Even during the most cold frosty winter nights, especially on full moon or when stars provide the light around you 🙂

You understood finnish nature very well from just these songs. Fall is a slow descent from light and warmth to darkness cold. With constant rain and gloom with no real sun light or brightness. The tempo was pretty wild so it would signify the constant rain and rain and some more rain.

I live in Ontario now, and have for most of my adult life. But while a teen, I spent two years in Victoria , BC. They had two seasons there. Rainy season, and forest fire alert season. For about 8 months of the year we carried water proof ski jackets at all times. For about 4 months of the year we tried not to make any kind of a spark out doors. We missed the sun for most of the year.

As always, awesome reaction guys! Can't wait to see you do Loneliness. It's one of the most beautiful ballads I've heard, and heartbreaking at the same time. As you probably know by now, it came out of Jaris loss of his father. Here in the southern part of Norway where I live, we have barely six hours of daylight mid winter. In the north of Norway, it's always dark. And in the summer, the sun never sets. So we really do appreciate the light summer after months of darkness.

Jarri pointed out that with this song, he described autumn, but also on the grand scheme of things, he compared it to the universe itself. Autumn is relentless ( i know both of you don't have autumn in your area), days getting shorter, northern winds are a common occurrence, rain falls most days in the month. The nature is falling apart in the sense of vegetation, grass is fading, leaves fall (as Jarri describes it, "my crimson nightmare"). Basically, autumn is like universe. The universe doesn't care whether we live or die ("I curse you for your need to breed and multiply", "curse you for your consciousness"). And the same goes for autumn, it just happens because it's forced to happen, but it doesn't care that it's killing everything around it.

I love how you described the feeling of omnipotence throughout the song - zooming out and watching everything from god's perspective. I believe it's our true nature that we forget when we arrive here, that we are an extension of a source, connected to everything and temporarily experiencing life from this individual point of view. The album just flows perfectly as a circle of birth and rebirth, each season bringing different sensations. Btw listening to this outside on a dark, windy day/night is an experience like no other. :) Can't wait to see the reaction to the last one!

Autumn is a midseason - It combines the bad sides of summer and winter: it's wet, cold, dark and looooooong. Even longer now and in the future because of the climate change which is making our winters shorter. On the other hand, last summer it felt like there never even was a summer. In the North it was like it jumped from the spring stright into autumn. It was that cold and rainy... But honestly the beginning of autumn is usually nice and beautiful, and it even makes you feel just like that god who's holding the world in their hands. That's why this song is so accurate - from the top of the World down you go to the dirt, waiting for the final blow. But for me that death in the end begins the new life immediately, I don't need to wait for the spring. Winter is the best season there is😊

Meh! To a tree, autumn is just a bad case of dandruff. Nothing spectacular. I guess they chose this black metal soundscape for winter on Finland as all the Norwegian black metal folks come there for bathing holidays. In Norway, all the lakes are frozen by then and even they get haematomas, concussions and break limbs trying to jump in.
