Treat others as you would wish to be treated. A sentence we should all live by. Homelessness isn't a choice, It is a result of bad circumstances. Some folk can steer themselves out, Others however need Help, Hope and Support to navigate their lives back on track. The rewards of helping people is enriching for all involved and BENEFITS EVERYONE. A huge thankyou to Carmen, Deb, Mark and all those working towards ending homelessness. Best Wishes from the UK.

It's a nice idea but it doesn't work. A fish needs water to surive, a bird needs open air. People are the same, you can't just blindly use platitudes to guide your behavior, what you need is case by case understanding of individuals.

I had a cousin who passed away in 1999. He was raised with wonderful loving parents, siblings, loving aunts and uncles and cousins His father was a well known brick layer and built beautiful homes that they lived in. They made sure he was well dressed well feed and braces when he got older. But when he turned 18 he loved jumping trains and going from one city to the next.He enjoyed meeting new people and survived by holding a sign near a busy intersection asking for donations. He didn’t have to do this because he was poor he did it for the adventure. He was my favorite cousin and he always made sure to stay with me for the short times he came home to visit. In October 1999 he and some friends were riding 3 wheelers (?) in the California desert when a friend fell into a canyon he was climbing down to help when he fell to his death. That was how big his heart was, always helping others when he himself had nothing. I know almost everyone who is homeless doesn’t want to live that life but my cousin Harvey loved every minute of the life he had chosen. May he rest in heavenly peace. The state is responsible for the homeless people not the government.
@susanbrown29093 жыл бұрын
Sorry about your cousin :but there’s a big difference from choosing to to be a homeless nomad,or tramps as we used to call them in the UK,to actually made to do so by certain conservative governments legislation,and greedy self serving people with zero support for their fellow man. Too many have this dog eat dog attitude towards others now adays ,and this is the result unfortunately.
@witchiepooh22193 жыл бұрын
susan brown I understand completely what you are saying but my comment was about not all homeless people hate their life living homeless. I’m sure my cousin was not the only happy homeless person out there. He loved his life and freedom. Every state is responsible for giving a hand up to those in need. There are a lot of organizations that help but there are more homeless people that they can’t help. I truly believe that bigger cities want homeless so they can beg the government for help and use the money given for their own wants or needs.

State government? The state does have it's own government. People are so caring and generous in the US and that is why we don't need government safety nets. Remember that, when your day comes.

Check out Rochester, Syracuse, or Buffalo. I drive CDL locally in Rochester, houses falling apart, hundreds of people walking around with a trash bag of stuff, living in the growing abandoned buildings, and houses. I disagree to an extent. Homelessness is the parents fault. They failed in teaching their kids how to survive in the real world and to say no to drugs. Secondly, the government should have better programs to help people that hit hard times. Not just giving money but teaching skill sets to find employment or start businesses. Lastly, if you live in an area where government won't do anything about, STOP VOTING FOR THEM. For example in san fran, they keep voting for the same people 😜and expect changes. That's insanity.

This American Rescue Plan is being touted as the greatest thing since FDR's New Deal. It is actually woefully inadequate. No $15 an hour minimum wage; $1400 is nice but how long is that going to last? And not a single Republican could bring themselves to vote for even that. It's a disgrace to a country and a people who call themselves Christian. Let's hope the infrastructure plan has FDR-like ambitions.
@ParArdua3 жыл бұрын
Well, it was the GOP who rook out the minimum wage and a lot of the rest-the same GOP who sold Trumpski's $ 3 TRILLION handout to big business as "economic genius".
@susanbrown29093 жыл бұрын
This is the big question ...the US is predominantly Christian. God doesn’t tell us to ignore the poor ..yet:many do.
@prieten493 жыл бұрын
@@ParArdua Far be it from me to defend Trumpski or his minions, but the $15 an hour minimum wage was brought up as an amendment to the Rescue Plan by, of course, Bernie Sanders. Eight Democratic Senators joined Republicans to kill that amendment: Manchin, Sinema, King, Tester, Shaheen, Hassan, Carper, and Coons. Remember those names when fundraising season starts. With Democrats like these, who needs Republicans?
@prieten493 жыл бұрын
@@susanbrown2909 Well, I don't need to tell you of the sorry history of certain Christian churches which once justified slavery and today slavishly support that anti-Christ Trump. So-called Prosperity Theology is quite popular now and basically says God will make you rich if you have enough faith. So obviously, if you aren't rich, your faith isn't strong enough!
@sierrachoco52713 жыл бұрын
