Today we're playing a Captain Hook deck featuring Captain Hook Forceful Duelist to make the early game tricky for our opponents, Captain Hook Captain of the Jolly Roger to get multiple uses out of our Fire The Cannons and remove several threats all at once, and Captain Hook Thinking A Happy Thought for a difficult to deal with, high attacking character to help control the board.
Running up the curve we also play Gramma Tala Storyteller as the only potential ramp in the whole deck. We don't need to ramp, but playing Tala on two is both a curve filler and also something that can quest for several points through the turns as our opponent doesn't want to let us ramp with her.
On three we're playing Benja Guardian of the Dragon Gem as a potent quester but also as item removal against those decks that rely on items. Lawrence Jealous Manservant who I will misunderstand his ability in one of these games for sure, comes down as a 4/4 character and only drops to 0 strength after he's damaged. Questing for 2 and having 4 willpower does make him a versitile threat. And The Prince Never Gives Up who quests for two as well, and comes with both the Bodyguard and Resist 1 abilities. He can protect our board and is tricky to deal with.
The four drops are Hiram Flaversham Toymaker, Nick Wilde Wily Fox, Captain Hook Captain of the Jolly Roger, and Eli La Bouff Big Daddy. Running only eight items in the deck Hiram isn't the most potent of card draw but he does occasionally serve the role well and can often act as ink when we need it. Nick Wilde combos with Hiram and the Pawpsicles and can turn the low item count Hiram strategy into something more reliable. And Eli is just a big butt quest for two character. He can act as ink, or is great against aggro decks as he can take out several characters before he's finally banished.
In our five drops there's Beast Tragic Hero who is here for the exact reason you think he is, to draw cards, act as bait, and become a powerhouse attacker once he can't draw anymore. Captain Hook Thinking A Happy Thought, just like Captain of the Jolly Roger have both been explained, but still, solid characters.
In the six drops we'll find Hercules Divine Hero and Tinker Bell Giant Fairy, neither of which can be shifted in this deck, but are both fantastic beaters and questers.
And finally we have the actions and items. Cannons is to remove early threats and combo with Captain Hook to retrieve it and use it again. Charge is a situational card, but sometimes we just need to keep threats while dealing with our opponents stuff. Smash and Let The Storm Rage On are simply more removal. Pawpsicle is card draw, Scepter is mainly Hiram fodder with some occasional utility, and Eye of the Fates is usually ink, but can be the difference between wins and loses depending on how early it can come down in a game.
