Seeing this does my heart, good. People of all backgrounds communicating through music. These are rough times, but this performance was incredibly healing. I needed that. Wynton was a hero to me as a kid, and his framework and style for the Haydn Concerto certainly guided me in my performance of this piece in college. All of his music was very influential.

Its hard to find a rock Super Star that represents so well those long gone years of super groups and super bands as Eric Clapton ..and still going after all this years
@johndowson7929 Жыл бұрын
If you think back to the days of the super rock bands what did they all have in common it was also a new marketing strategy by the big promoters , the business men , all of a sudden it went unplugged and the top guitarists such as Clapton, Gary Moore ect reverted to the roots and the roots were blues, it's like music went around in a circle but came back to the grandaddy of all popular music "The Blues" n they all cashed in on it
@johnbianchi38772 жыл бұрын
The great thing is that you walk into any blues bar in any town and very often experience the same thing. No one in this video did anything extremely virtuosic, they all just let that style of music play them. That why it’s so much fun for them and the audience.
@christinematthews1965 жыл бұрын
Brilliant, I am lucky enough to have heard Wynton and Taj Mahal play a couple of times. I live near a small village in France called Marciac and for 2 weeks every year we have a jazz/blues festival. One night after the main concert we went to our normal bar we love where the youngsters from our local music college play. Who should walk in but Wynton greeting the owners big hugs, he then started jamming with the kids they all played out of their skins and it is an atmosphere I will remember forever. Such a wonderful person who plays for the love of it and inspires others. Thank you so much.

If you understand enough both jazz and blues, you know it takes quite some humility and courage for Eric to go and play with those pros at the high level and top form they are, and humility and generosity of them to create that musical landscape of that jazzy-blues well suited for Eric to be able to perform in, and without ever attempting to overshadow or intimidate him with their facility within that landscape. For these reasons, and of course the beautiful music itself, I find this quite moving to watch.

That is not merely the blues. That is Dixieland jazz, the original jazz, that came about when European instruments found their way into the brothels and honky-tonks of the late 1800's and early 1900's. The tune they are playing is a blues, and the has the 1, 4, 5 chord structure. But it is not merely the blues, it is Dixieland jazz. The first truly American art form that went around the world. The blues did not at the time. It was not until Dixieland jazz that American music became American music.

Clapton over his head, you cannot be serious. He's the consumate student, learning new things every day, which is why he's been declared by B.B. King as the greatest blues guitarist of all time.
