Gravitas: China flexes military power near Taiwan, showcases nuclear missile ahead of Blinken visit

China displayed its military might in the Taiwan Strait in the days leading up to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken's visit to China. Earlier this week, China sent warships and fighter jets near Taiwan. Day after that Beijing released rare footage of its JL-2 ballistic missile, essentially showing off its nuclear second-strike capability.

Remember that Taiwan produces the majority of the chips used in everything from cars, to appliances to bombs. Until the domestic manufacturing plants are up and running, the USA cannot allow China to have access to those factories. As China is ramping up its activities, the US is building up its presences thanks to the help of Japan and the Philippines. Hopefully China will back down before they find out how prepared the states are.

America is so spread out and it has openly threatened China in so many areas, with sanctions. If America is reliant on Japan and the Philippines then it would be better off not sending money to Israel and Ukraine. The world, including America, is astonished at the progress that China has made in all areas. I used to wonder why China was developing its military, was it getting ready to attack other countries even the US, but China doesn’t need to attack other countries because it is working with other countries in a mutually beneficial way. The Chinese military is essentially defence against those who would try to undo all of its progress. I wouldn’t underestimate the progress that China has achieved in the military alongside all of the other progress. Don’t forget that China has successfully landed several robotic missions and is exploring the far side of the moon, is that also part of its military capability. Don’t poke the Panda.
