Katie, you are one of the kindest people I know and you would never intentionally offend anybody. Please remember nobody can please everyone, nor should we try. There is no need for you to apologize for offending someone just because you said "you guys". If they are offended, it is their problem to deal with it, not yours to have to smooth out ruffled feathers. You keep being the fabulous person you are!

I say y'all now because 20+ years in the South does that. But I really don't get people getting so upset about "you guys". It's not derogatory and, in my world, the connotation is a mixed group. I totally get that it gets tricky trying to make everyone happy and not offended. It's one big reason I never started my own channel. You, however, are so sweet and awesome! 💜💜💜 Now stop the yawning, I keep catching them. 😂

I’m working on Stacked Pumpkins with Sunflowers and the enhancement kit. I am very happy with the results. A few of the substitute drills are slightly smaller. I used my “EW” kit and just swapped the special drills for the DP ones. This worked because all of my enhancements were full swaps. I keep them in order by color group and eventually they sort themselves into a good order and then muscle memory kicks in. I added a little fluorescent pink sticker to the containers with the special drills.

🌻 Katie, thank you as always for sharing. I finished my drills and chills project right as the video was wrapping up!! If someone is offended by you, I would be shocked. I feel you try to be kind always ❤ my husband is originally from Ohio and we are in Oklahoma now. We definitely aren't offended by you guys 😂 I can relate with kids and technology. I am a bit older than you. My first phone was during my senior year of high school and I had completed my undergrad degree by the time the internet was getting ramped up for most people. Personally, I love technology from most aspects, although I am pretty private on social media. Now that I have a teen, that is where it gets harder. She has never known life without all kinds of tech gadgets. I agree that we can just do our best to help them engage safely as they mature. It is scary at times, but she is in a web design class that is backing up some things we have already tried to instill (online scams, predators, bullying, not oversharing, etc). I had to smile when you mentioned something about not traumatizing them. I have often had the thought "I hope she doesn't have to complain about me too much in therapy one day" 😂

Growing up with the Goonies, "Hey you guys" is a totally acceptable way to address a group of people. Unfortunately there is a growing trend of individuals who are looking to be offended. And they refuse to be content until they are offended or triggered. It's the downside of constant connection through social media. I have written a few papers about the prevalence of social contagion being amplified by social media and instant gratification of confirmation bias in an echo chamber. Was very interesting to research.

I just kit up by order of what's on the Legend. But I'm also one that doesn't spend a lot of time fussing and mussing with "kitting up". Most of the time (except with DAC kits or any that provide pre-cut sticker labels) I don't even bother with symbols and stuff on my containers. I have many container boxes of various size and the containers in them are literally just numbered in numerical order (1-28, or 1-26, or 1-60 etc) and I just use the number on the legend (numerical order, not DMC). I have nothing against people that go to great lengths to kit up (printing labels, putting washi all around the edge, marking off sections, etc etc) because I know, for some, that is part of the enjoyment for them. That's just not me, lol. The less time I have to spend preparing to "paint", the happier I am! I do really appreciate that DAC (and I think some others?) are now including the pre-cut sticker labels in their kits - I do use those and it does make it slightly quicker/easier to select the right color when working when you can just scan for the symbol, so I use those whenever I can. What's really funny is that as much as I don't want to spend time kitting up, I do enjoy watching others do it. I'm weird.

🍁🎃 It’s funny, I never even thought about kitting up in DMC order. LOL I kit up so that I never have to look at the legend on the side ever again. Numbers, letters, then by color light too dark. When I was younger I would be surprised to hear somebody say ‘pop’, but now I don’t think a thing about it. Same with ‘you guys’. British lingo will puzzle me still, but I’m getting used to it. I watch a lot of British shows on Acorn.

I've lived in California for most of my life(a couple years in Mexico and one in Tennessee) and I regularly use the phrase "you guys" 🤷♀️ I use it in situations where there only men, women or mixed. Nobody has ever told me they feel offended. I do believe that some words or terms need to change but I find it annoying that people want to change every single thing that might be perceived as offensive. If someone told me personally that they didn't like to be referred to as "you guys" I would do my best to remember not to use that in front of them. But I do believe in showing grace to people especially when it comes to how they talk. Changing something that you've done your whole life is hard and takes time. But that's just my two cents 😊

I grew up in Utah, and grew up saying 'you guys' I don't understand why it's offensive. I feel anything can be taken in an offensive way if someone tried hard enough. You can't please everyone ever. So, maybe shame on me, but I say 'who cares?' I'm having to get used to being called ma'am. I know it's not meant to be rude, but it's my least favorite term. Lol. I'd rather be called sir, haha. I don't know why. This week was really hard at work and home for me. Sometimes life is just hard and it sucks. Hope you enjoy your kit! 🌻

But, I have spent the last 40 years in GA-and Y’all and “Coke” generically (for all soda/pop) is now the norm. What would one think is proper for the plural form of you if one of these isn’t used????
