I was an avid cross stitcher when I was younger, as my kids got older and multiple sports each I had less time. Also, my eyes weren’t always great for threading the needle. I am so glad I have found this craft. I 💚learning and watching these videos. I get to share my love with others and it makes me feel apart in things. Now that my kids are setting out for themselves, I found myself wondering what was next for my husband and I. Started dping in February 2023 and he has found something. Sometime we do his and mine together. He is even watching some of these videos. Thank you

I use the legend. The containers stay numbered and i refer back to the legend.

When I work on my canvas, I only put numbers: 1-35, etc. in my storage containers and always look at the legend all the time to make sure I got the right drills. I always thought about aftermath once I’m finished working on my DP projects and to de-kit my storage containers. I don’t want to go to the hassles of removing the DMC numbers and the respective codes. And then to kit up my new DP projects in the storage containers again with new DMC numbers and codes!

I have the same cover minder! I use a magnetic dry erase board and put all of my cover minders on there so I can just grab one when I need it. I also have a tin box the size of a lunch box for my cover minders that are more 3D or stand up. I can’t wait to see your stash. 🦊

Oh yay! Isn't it such a cute coverminder? I couldn't resist! I use a tin box for my "3D" minders too, but I've had to get creative with how I store the rest since I don't have that dedicated craft space. I'll hopefully be sharing my stash soon! 💛 Thanks for watching!

Hi Katie! I enjoyed this WIP N CHAT. 1. I always kit up with numeric numbers. I do not enjoy kitting up or kitting down so I'd rather not have to change out the symbols each and every time. So, my system is labled 1-72 (I should not have more than 72 colors) I use the Harbor Freight cubes, however I have them laid into an empty Elizabeth ward tray. I LOVE the label sticker that DAC gives in their kits. I lay that right next me. If I turn my canvas on its side or upside down, I turn the sticker in the same orientation. If the kits does not come with a sticker or an inventory sheet, I'll either make a photocopy of the legend or take a photo and look at my phone when I change colors. I might add that unlike you, I work one color over the whole canvas. I do not confine myself to a square. If the canvas is larger than 50x80, I work half the canvas with 1 color before moving on to the next. I always work with the color that has the most and work to the least. 2. I have 3 daughters. They are 4 years apart. When we made the decision to purchase the kids Kindle tablets...it was a game changer!!! All of a sudden, I knew what their "Currency" was. I, all of a sudden, had power because they would do ANYTHING to be able to have "table time" and avoided anything that got them grounded. I think that your purchase of tablets will reduce a lot of stress in your home. I would just lovingly encourage you to follow through with any threats. 3. We have been married for 29 years this June. We were married for 18 years before we went through the Financial Peace class from Dave Ramsey. It was a life changing event. Sadly, we lived nearly 2 decades of our marriage doing things completely wrong with a lot of debt. We have spent the last decade living by the "cash only" principals and I am extremely passionate about sharing the plan w/ anyone who will listen. When the pandemic hit, our bank's lobby closed and we could not get our cash our anymore. The use of an ATM was not going to give me the demoninations of bills I needed for our envelopes. We had to come up with a twist to keep all of our envelopes funded each payday. 4. A 20% pay cut is crushing. My husbands boss cut everyone 90%!!! It was devastating. They did that instead of laying off everyone because they did not want to pay unemployment. His pay was not even enough to pay the health insurance preimun. It was truly devastating and we were not able to file unemployment b/c technically he was still employed! Trying to find a replacement job after being with 1 company for 18 years, during a pandemic, was almost impossible! I'm so happy that your husbands pay has been reinstated. 5. I won't be able to attend your live, however, I'll be sure to catch your replay. 🦊🦊🦊🦊🦊🦊🦊🦊🦊🦊🦊🦊🦊

Aww, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts, Valerie! I love it!! 1. I totally understand just using numbers with kitting up for sake of saving time with kitting up and down. That's much more efficient! And I'm so intrigued when I find people that diamond paint so differently, like how you one color over the whole canvas. That would be a fascinating way to work on a project...maybe I'll try it on a snack size kit sometime! 2. YES, knowing their "currency" totally helps. And we're definitely careful to not give any consequences or threats that we can't follow through on. I'm a nut about that. 3. I love that you've done FPU and know how lifechanging it can be! It hasn't been practical for us to do all-cash, for a variety of reasons, but we track things carefully on a debi t card and we have a good rhythm going. 4. Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry to hear about your husband's pay cut, that's completely devastating and I can't wrap my brain around that. I hope that things have turned up for him in the form of a new job or a reinstated salary! 5. We'll miss you but I hope you'll enjoy the replay! ❤️

I definitely label my containers with the symbol and numbers . At the beginning of a big one say from Diamond Art Club I use the legend if only to find the number and track down the container faster. I keep them in numerical order. By the time I’ve done a few sections I sorta memorize the order they are in and never look back at the legend much again. So it depends on the size of the kit really. I can do without the legend if its less than 20 colors. I can easily scan my tray to find the symbol quickly for those. I use Elizabeth ward storage for my diamond painting. Labeling them up is my favorite part of the process. I’m all about the prettiness.

🦊 from the Philippines I used to kit up by numbers only (I only started diamond painting late January 2021) but then I got a long canvas that I need to roll up while doing it and that's when I shifted to using the numbers and symbols. I take a picture of the legend and print it using my mini printer (can print on sticker paper) and that's how I labeled my next 4 kits. I took a break from diamond painting 1 weekend and just organized the diamonds so I just have to pickup the kit and the canvas when I'm ready for a new diamond painting. More power to you.

🦊 HI Katie! I kit up numerically by DMC code, which is usually the order it is in on the key code legend. I do not have children, but someone needs to create a tablet for cats. That would be great, lol. As an affiliate for Craftibly, the pre-release was a little bumpy, but it worked out as it always does, and I very excited to have purchased 3 of them. 🦊 I kit by using a sticker with the DMC code and refer to the legend. I keep the large sticker from DAC kits in a notebook and either refer to that or the legend if it’s accessible where I’m at on the canvas. I keep inventory sheets in the binders with the drill type. I want to have a copy of what symbol goes with what number in case drills pop off and I’ve cut edges off the canvas or painted them or something. Girl, I know you’re gonna finish before I do. 😂 But knowing you also have the preorders as incentive to go ahead and do your kit makes me feel better! I’m doing mine without the special treatment first and then I’m gonna swap out afterwards so I’ll send you photos of both ways!

Ooh, keeping the large stickers in a notebook is a really good idea! Especially if you don't want to have to look at the legend on the canvas every time. Good call, friend! (As usual ;) ) There's nooooo rush on the kit, friend!! Like you said, I only decided to jump on mine to see if I like the kits enough to go for the preorders. I watched all this video! 🦊 I do not use the "legend " much after I kit-up! I draw the symbols on the tops of my containers ..that seems to help me go faster and less stress looking over at the "legend " all the time! I watch my 3 year old grandson daily so know all about loosing my mind! My grandson has a tablet too and yes it is wonderful! His favorite is watching Blippie! Will catch your "live" tonight!

I think the tablets are a great idea!! I have four boys and what saved my life was actually the handheld gaming systems at the time.... starting with the Nintendo Gameboy when by oldest was in kindergarten. So excited to have you and Lindsay together, that will be fun to watch! When it comes to kitting up I actually really like looking at the legend so I prefer going by DMC numbers. And I agree that it really helps when the legend is on both sides. I saw the Craftibly releases and there's one that I really like so I may be tempted to pre-order. I like what I'm hearing about Craftibly but most of the artwork is not at all my cup of tea. From their past releases there's only been one that I'd love to work on but that particular painting is very pricy and the shipping costs to UK are also very high so I've been holding off on it. I'm a big fan of Craft-Ease so I'm excited to see you joining their affiliate programme. I'll make sure to use your link next time I order! Honestly, my only goal now is coming out of the pandemic alive and sane which is in itself proving to be a challenge. I’ve always used the 1,2,3,4,5 system. I honestly don’t know why anyone wouldn’t use it. Once labeled, and I never have to label again. I’m a big landscape lover, when it comes to diamond paintings, and the more color, the more I like it. I will even gravitate to something that isn’t landscape/nature, if it has a lot of color.

I label my containers with the number, symbol, and DMC code. I look at the symbol on the canvas, match it to the legend. get the DMC code from that, pull my container with that DMC code, and then make sure the symbol on the container matches the canvas. I think this is a holdover from my cross stitching. I always like to double and triple check everything. (I don't know how to add an emoji, but I watched to the end.)

🦊🦊🦊! Great wip & chat! I kit up like you do, and never use the legend on my canvas. One legend was so small it wouldn't take a good picture or make a good copy because of the texture, so I cut the legend off the canvas and used those as labels. If an inventory sheet doesn't come with a canvas, like when I first started dp'ing, I would take a picture of the legend and print it out to put thru my sticker maker. So no, I have actually NEVER used the legend on the canvas while working! Strange to realize that! I started out only ordering a canvas that was in my 'style', ones that were more on the abstract side of things, thinking if I wanted to hang them up, they'd go at least a little bit more with my decor. That ended quickly as I just couldn't find many (if any) like that. So now I sort of do what you do. I have to LOVE the image in some way to purchase it. I've let my heart lead me and have been having a wonderful time with it. I do paintings that are completely not my usual style, and usually end up loving them. I may not even know what it is exactly in the painting that is calling to me, and that's ok, because I usually figure it out while working on the painting. And if I never realize what it is that I'm drawn to in a canvas- that's ok too. I'm definitely a 'process painter' over a product-painter. (I think those are the words you got from your knitting friend?!) Oh well- I'm off to watch the replay of your live with Lindsay, I'm a day or 2 behind here and on IG, so by the time I heard of your live- I had JUST missed it! So the #replay it will be! I know I’ve told you this before but I’m a numbers-only painter! It never occurred to me to do otherwise. I keep the sticker sheet near me to refer to, and for bigger paintings or paintings with not many colors, I pretty quickly learn that 9 is the black dot, 12 is the purple triangle, etc. I don’t love the kitting up and down process, I’m just eager to get to the painting, so anything that would make it longer like changing stickers doesn’t appeal to me. I may give it a try on a really large painting once the new containers I ordered from AliExpress come, just to mix it up. Nobody has any business judging your parenting decisions! Being a parent is always hard and during the pandemic must be a million times harder in lots of expected and unexpected ways. You do what’s right for your family! 🦊

I too kit up with the stickers on my containers. I've done that ever since my second canvas. I got the idea from watching Rachel Rae unboxing videos. I don't ever look at the key on the canvas. I have only purchased and completed one Craftibly canvas. It was huge at 100 x80 cm. The canvas quality was good. There was a small rendering mistake at the bottom of the canvas and I think it needed more colors. I definitely would purchase from them again, but I don't love any of the artwork they carry. Which is a shame, because I live close enough to pick my orders up at their store. I tend to purchase canvases from the same artists because I love their style. Occasionaly, I will purchase from a different artist because I like the artwork. For example, I purchased "Alice in the White Rabbit House" by Simona Candini. Her artwork is not normally my style but that piece intrigued me. That will probably be the only canvas I get of her artwork. I have "Goodbye Pisces" on the way. It should be here by Thursday. Which has definitely been frustrating. I think this thing must have not been made very well for an almost 2 year old to be able to open it. That and him sticking his hands in his mouth and making himself throw up has me up the wall.

And I have to agree - I don't totally love a lot of their artwork, even though I'm enjoying working on the kit from them (that I've started since filming this video). I ordered two of the Sheena Pike pieces on Craftibly. I got one before and love it. I mostly gravitate to flowers or beach/palm tree scenes. Lately I have been wanting angels and the big eyed fairies. It's hard to stop buying all the kits. ☺ 🐺 ⬅fox?

I like to kit up by the numbers and symbols but when I'm working on it I mainly look at just the symbols, it's just easier for me than constantly look at the legend.🦊

I kit up in 3 ways depending on the mood im in. So either 1,2,3 etc or use symbols from made legend or I draw symbols on a sticker. Xx

I always kit up with the symbols. Never refered to a legend unless I'm kitting down. I got a couple kits from the Craftibly Preorders, all JBG kits. I'm a sucker because I remember having her artbook from 15 years ago and one of the art [Captive Fairy] was in it. After that I will have to be on a no buy. I can't keep buying more pens for the paintings 😨

I just kit up with numerical codes that match the legend on the canvas. I tend to stay with smaller kits (usually smaller than 60 X 70). I have been doing this hobby since March 2020. I have a recorded stash of 75 uncompleted canvases, because I tend to purchase spontaneously.. I really want to purchase licensed artwork, but find that I don't know if I am making a legal purchase or not. If I like it I buy it. I am getting better, tho.
