Hello, I love a wip parade and this is the second one I have watched today. I was so happy to see so many Golden Kite's in action. I have one of their charts but have not started it nor indeed have the supplies needed to start it. You have so many lovely things and as this is the first video of yours I have watched I think I will make sure to revisit your channel and catch up with your updates. Thanks for sharing and good luck with all of your beautiful work. Happy stitching Ali.

Thank you for this video. I enjoyed seeing what you're working on. I tip my hat to you and all the stitchers who work on those ginormous projects without gridding. I had never heard of gridding until I started watching floss tube but I would have never dreamed of buying/starting any of the patterns I've bought since learning of that method. One of these days I may actually stitch them.
@StitchinMommy7 жыл бұрын
You're welcome! I learned how to stitch without gridding, so I just make it work and triple count as I go. I tried marking my fabric with little dots with a washable pen on one project, but I found that I really didn't need it. Not gridding saves me lots of prep time also - more time to stitch!

Hi Sarah....I love your channel, I keep coming back to see your wips and finish project haha and try to find them online. I like your choices of the design. Seeing your wips make me want to finish mine. I am a newbie in cross stitch, and I just about to finish 1 project (haha just one), my former colleague gave it in a kit as a gift , now 7 years later I just about to finish it. And I just ordered "Voyage at sea" and "In the beginning" (the one that you mentioned as creation sampler). Now I also have in mind to have some designs from Mirabilia and HAED. Thanks for many info that I can get from your channel (videos)

I just recently discovered your videos and I love them! They reminded me how much I love cross stitch, especially counted cross stitch. Your videos have brought me back to them and inspired me to take a crack at them, at least one of them, after a long period of time of not having worked on them. Some, as well as my needlepoints, are many years old, but having seen this video, I don't feel so guilty for not having worked on them, let alone finished any. Thank you for your lovely videos (so, so relaxing!!!)!

There are some projects that have languished for years, simply because new projects take my focus away and then I forget about them! Flosstube inspired me to go back through my craft closet and find all of my projects, and I was surprised at all of the beautiful things I had forgotten I'd started. I'm hoping that having a list of them all now will help me get back to them at some point so they can be finished and enjoyed. :)
@mibelloaleman6 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for replying! I realize how busy you are. This is what amazes me about you - you seem to be very busy and yet, you take time for your cross stitching and concentrate on it with such joy. It's beautiful to watch! As a new fan of yours, I'm sitting here with a cup of coffee contemplating whether or not to go to my needle works stash (includes many, many needlepoint canvases) and go thru them and do as you have - organize them into weeks and months of work on them. My only problem with that is that I have very little space to spread out. Nevertheless, this thought is inspired by you. Btw, have you seen Patricia K's completed works? They're awesome. Thanks and ciao, ciao!

Throughout the stages in my life, I have come and go with my devotion to cross stitching, spending more time sewing or scrapbooking, etc. But, I always seem to come back to cross stitching as my first love! And since discovering this wonderful online community of stitchers, my appetite for cross stitch has definitely grown! So, it's very worthwhile to me to make time for stitching, even though the busy seasons of life can make that a challenge sometimes. :) Regarding organizing your stash, I started simply and have gradually made more steps to organize further. For starters, I went through my boxes and bags and just made a list of the projects I had started that still held some interest for me. It could also work at the same time to make a list of any projects that you have kitted up or patterns for but are not yet started, because those things can be forgotten, too! :) Eventually, once you have a list, it's easier to go through occasionally and figure out priorities and rotations. Something that helped guide me towards choosing what to stitch on when, was the Stitch Maynia group on Facebook. There is a file in that group that lists a lot of stitch-a-longs and themes for the months that give you ideas of things to work on. I can be fun to look through your list and pick something to fit a theme for the month/week/day. Happy stitching and organizing and planning! :)

Sarah, again, thank you so much for your wonderful reply! I will try to get started making a list this weekend and maybe get an idea of what's on first, whose on second.....(ha! ha! ha! the old Abbott & Costello joke).I've been ill for a while and watching your videos has been so relaxing that it has not only gotten me interested in cross stitching again, but it has helped distract me from the way I was feeling. I picked up an old WIP - Engelbreit's Princess of Quit A Lot. It's extremely detailed (lots of confetti) but I am determined to work on it as much as I can before taking on another WIP. I do remember that I have kitted up several projects, either started ones or just those waiting to be started, so the list is a great idea because I will be able to see at a glance what needs to be worked on first. I like the fact that you stitch by hand, that is, you just roll the fabric, and therefore, this takes up less space once in their plastic bag, but still there is the space needed for the rest of the supplies. Right now I have them in clear, zippered folders with all the floss and instructions for each project. They lay flat in an under the bed container.Anyho, I will definitely try to work on this list this weekend and I thank you again for your time and advice. Bless you! Ciao, ciao!

I loved watching this episode, you are very inspiring to me. I would love to see how you organize your floss for a large full coverage piece and how you manage floss once you begin your stitching. I am fairly new to stitching and have not found the perfect thread management system. I put all my floss on bobbins that I number and then put them in a plastic bobbin case. When I am using them I seem to end up with a floss floating around in disarray. Thanks for sharing your work, I really enjoyed your pieces! Holly

I have just started cross stitch but have done embroidery for years. I was gifted 13 plastic pockets with kits in. One is Nantucket Rose, some fairy ones, a ballerina. I also bough a bundle off eBay which has a peacock on, and two which make a pair with birds and flowers. Those I don't have a chart for, so am making it up and copying to fill borders. Thnx for your reply, but, as I continued binging your videos yesterday, I saw your previous explanation. I was interested in your 1/2 stitches. One of my WIP's is one from Heaven and Earth on 25 over one. I have a fair amount done on it, but discovered the floss doesn't match on a big chunk of the sky and I have a line of demarcation. Too much and too difficult to rip out, so starting over completely using 1/2 stitches. Haven't worked on it much cause I knew something needed done with it, but feel energized now to restart that pattern. 1/2 stitches would make it so much more manageable to do.

Beautiful projects and gorgeous stitching! I was wondering about the tubes where you put your wips. Where can I get ones like these? All the best :)
@StitchinMommy7 жыл бұрын
Thank you! My tubes come from a variety of sources. Most of them have been salvaged from buying fabric at craft stores, when it comes rolled up in a tube. I also have utilized old wrapping paper tubes, closing off one end with paper. I even have a nice tube that a wall map came in, so I put one of my big WIPs in that one. Occasionally, I've created a small tube out of card stock if I didn't have one handy. Lots of re-purposing! You could use shipping tubes also, but I've always just used whatever I've had lying around - "storage from stash"! :)

Wow! You choose very challenging pieces to stitch! I would never be able to complete all of those in 2 lifetimes, lol. One question; how do you work on the project with the 40 count fabric? You are obviously so very talented/creative. Thank you for sharing; very interesting!

Kimberly Vinson Hi! So far, I’ve been able to stitch on 40ct fabric without any trouble. I have a nice, bright daytime bulb in the lamp by my stitching chair, and that’s all I need. I have heard other stitchers enjoy using magnifiers for smaller counts. 😊

Been x stitching for 40 years and discovered your videos while browsing KZbin. I play your videos while I'm stitching and find them relaxing. I have to say, it would drive me crazy to have so many WIP, but that's me. A question I have is, when you don't stitch to completion, how do you make sure the dye lots are consistent? Keep up the good work. Love to see young folks stitching. I have also found that Heaven and Earth designs' pattern photos don't always match colors used in pattern.
@StitchinMommy7 жыл бұрын
Welcome to Flosstube! I'm glad you're enjoying my videos. These stitching videos are very fun, and quite addictive - I have several channels I like to watch while I stitch also. :) I think I used to stitch more focused on a single project, but things have ballooned in recent years. ;) I have only had a few problems with dye lots, because I usually have enough to finish a piece, and even if I don't, the colors aren't usually touching, so it doesn't end up being an issue. One time I did have to pull out some old stitches because I just couldn't fudge it with a large patch of the same color, but that was the only time it's been a problem.

Thank you for sharing! I would be overwhelmed by so many starts, but you seem to have a plan for nearly all of them and how to keep them interesting. I might try some of your ideas when I get back to my full coverage projects. Can you tell me what you mean by "fractional stitches"? Are those 1/4 stitches on aida?
@StitchinMommy7 жыл бұрын
I'm a little bit overwhelmed by all of them, but I'm trying to just settle in and enjoy the process. :) Yes, fractional stitches are those little 1/4 stitches or even 3/4 stitches that happen when the back-stitching cuts across the diagonal of the stitch. I really enjoy the look they give to some designs, but it seems to be one of those things that a portion of the stitching world has a dislike of - in addition to blended threads, back-stitching, beading, etc. So, I figured I would point that out, since it's something different than a typical cross stitch. :)
@FrostyXStitch7 жыл бұрын
Stitchin' Mommy thank you for clearing that up. I don't mind those stitches, even on Aida, I take them as part of my pattern and they belong, so I don't dwell on them and just do it. 😊

I'm now only stitching pages: 20-25, 29-34, 38-43 and 47-52. I'm not sure how that effects the floss and how many stitches are left in each color. @StitchinMommy7 жыл бұрын
I have gotten my kits and patterns from a variety of places. Sometimes I'll buy kits in craft stores, or online at places like 123stitch.com. Sometimes I'll buy just the pattern from 123stitch.com, or other designer specific websites like goldenkite.com, heavenandearthdesigns.com or thefrostedpumpkinstitchery.com and find my own fabric and threads at either local craft stores or online at places like 123stitch.com, needleworkplus.com or traditionalstitches.com. There are some designers of digital patterns on etsy.com. You can also occasionally find things on ebay.com as well. I hope that was helpful! Happy hunting for great stitchy stuff!

What you’re not allowed to do with the Disney thing is use the pattern to decorate *something else*. You’re totally allowed to put the pattern on the provided fabric with the provided floss (obviously, that’s the goal of the product after all), and you’re also allowed to sell the resultant piece of decorated fabric, with or without the pattern papers, because First Sale Doctrine. But you can’t make it with your own fabric and floss ten times from just one copy of the pattern and sell *those*. How accurately Disney’s cease-and-desist lawyers (and etsy’s DMCA complaints department) will make that distinction is up for debate, no idea whether Etsy would leave a listing like that up.

I have heard the term confetti used a lot. I don't know what that is . could someone please explain.

Confetti is a term to refer to the sections of a pattern that have a ton of colors in the same small area. Heavy "confetti" can have, for example, 30-50 unique colors in a 100 square section. Sometimes, a color will only have 1 or 2 stitches in an area, and then, that color doesn't occur again for a long time in the pattern. Since there are lots of little sprinkles of different colors, the term confetti was given to those sections. Does that make sense?

How do I get into these groups for stitching challenges and stitch alongs?
@StitchinMommy7 жыл бұрын
There are several groups on Facebook that you could join to participate in stitch alongs and challenges. I'm a part of Stitch Maynia, and they have a list in the "Files" section of all the SALs that are current and all the way through the end of 2018. Lots to pick and choose from there! The Official Heaven and Earth Designs FB group has challenges every few months that you can participate in - I've done 1-1/2 of those. I've also heard a lot of people participating in SALs and challenges in the group Cross Stitch Finish Line, but I haven't joined that group yet. I'm afraid it will put undo pressure on me to stitch more than I ought to. :) I also am a part of a forum on the Golden Kite website that has regular SALs every weekend, but I only participate when they have longer SALs that include weekdays, since I don't get very much stitching time on the weekend. I hope that was helpful!

can you please make a video about parking method please
@StitchinMommy7 жыл бұрын
I do have a couple videos up where I share my parking method. One goes into detail about my favorite parking method: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oWqpqXeCfZmDa5o. Another one has three different starts, but I believe around the 38 minute point in the video, I talk about how I mark my parked threads as well: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hqevh5Zne9xreZI. I hope those are helpful!
