13 years late to this video but i still cant stress this enough. This video is amazing. I recently dug up my old psp 1000 since i saw there was a big modding scene for it. And when i started it i found wipeout pure on it, a game i had no idea i had even bought. But boy was it a blast. At least until i got to the third difficulty and got completely stuck with the gold medals. That is until i found this video. i mean there are controls that are shown in this video that i had no idea even existed. So i just wanted to say thank you for helping me enjoy wipeout pure (and pulse in the future) for a little longer!

Awesome tutorial - wish I'd had one like it when I was starting out. Beginners really need to know (i) how to make the thrust control digital and (ii) that there's good reason to remap the airbrakes to L1 and R1 (iii) that almost every corner in the game can and should be tackled slightly faster by sideshifting.

Watched this vid and most of your others in the last few days. I played WipEout until Wip3out, but couldn't get into it after the PS1 versions coz I thought you HAD to use the sticks. I wish there was some sort of in game indicator or at least tips insteead of just leaving these stats hidden, it would make it easier on everyone. Hell, I just wish that someone could list/do a video on the different ship models, that would be cool. Still, this is one hell of a video, learned more from this than anything I've ever seen and played from this game put together, THIS is how you do a game guide. Wish the devs would've done something like this, maybe a bunch of tutorial videos ingame
@FEISARCSY13 жыл бұрын
@Tailsrulz123 The stat upgrades are red on your side because the menu skin is set to Fury(either when you purchased the Fury expansion,or personal taste),and in this video,the menu skin is set to HD(the one that comes with the base game). Either way,if you look at the numbers,there is an increase in the number,so the colours are purely cosmetic.

I was about to ask why, then I got to the pitching section of the video. I understand now why you would use a d-pad over an analog stick for Wipeout. The extra finesse from an analog stick is unnecessary when the airbrakes are available (assigned to triggers even in HD) and it's a lot easier to pitch and steer simultaneously with d-pad. I gave up on it when I was using analog stick. Sacrificing full steering to pitch on certain turns got annoying fast. Thanks a bunch for this video!

You don't have to use airbrakes to take corners - instead slide up the outside sidewall (by holding nose up) and you can take any corner at ANY speed. Also, if you get the correct sequence of power ups you can slide up the sidewall and use boost to perform jumps MASSIVE jumps clear across the map.
