I hope they realise that in actual volleyball games, things go by so fast and your body has to react in time to get the ball. Things like where they couldn't receive, block or spike properly is part of real life as the author of the manga experienced as a volleyball player. It's not 'because they're stupid' that they couldn't block but in real games it goes that fast, this is what volleyball is. It isn't some kind of shounen manga where every player has the ability to block, recieve and spike every single chance they have. Its humanely impossible to do that
@silentknight48274 жыл бұрын
Agree. I think at one point in the show they mention how fast the ball is traveling. Around 70 to 80 mph, I believe. Plus they have to save it before the ball touches inside a court which is not big. Yes they can still get it but you don't even know where the setter is gonna set the ball to. It's like asking people to block the Duo Quick consistently. I know that other teams have already block the quick but that was because Hinata was too obvious when doing so. I'm not hating on them. I sometimes do that myself but when I saw a irl volleybal match, I finally understood why some players can't get it in time. Position is important but if the ball is going 80 mph and it's not that close to you, it'll be difficult. I hope that both Sheera and Lupa watch a real match so they could understand the difficulty of getting it. I think Roshi mention he saw a volleyball match before and I hope he understands it as well. Sorry for the long rant.

This anime can give you a sorta false impression of timing. Here they slow things down so that the characters can get their thoughts in while the play is still going on. It only hits normal pacing when we're not hearing the player's thoughts. That's why it seems like some players should be able to get the ball before it hits the ground, when in actuality, the entire game play happened in 2 seconds. If you see a real volleyball match you'll be able to get a better sense of the timing and see why the anime players can't seem to reach the ball even though it seems like they should be able to. It's just physically impossible to save all the balls when they go around 80 mph from 5 feet away.
@nerd_out1374 жыл бұрын
For all the reasons you mentioned, positioning and anticipation of what is coming is crucial to reacting in time. In the two key instances in this episode, Oikawa revealed a faster serve than he had ever hit before and Mad Dog literally pushed a teammate aside to hit a killer spike. Seeing these things for the first time and being unable to react makes sense

Also when Hinata got the ball before Ushijima he literally jumped his height (5’4)

@mlh13674 жыл бұрын
Decode Lifehacker yeah she was saying some stuff like “you shouldn’t have given it to Hinata” and “learn to switch it up at the last second” well one, that’s difficult af to do, and two, the setter almost always goes with the option they think is best to score the point and even the best option at the time can still fail at scoring Sometimes. There’s no guarantee that the team won’t be able to block or return it. It’s common. As a volleyball player, that’s literally just how volleyball works.
@ron4tron4 жыл бұрын
@@mlh1367 sometimes all that’s needed for the point is to just “be better,” (as dumb as it sounds put that way lmao), but that’s not to say these guys are anything far from amazing players at the highschool level and it also does not at all mean they made the wrong play just because they didn’t score. Maybe the play was absolutely perfect, and the only mistake was a moment of hesitation or a slight deviation where unnecessary, or that the opponents simply played around it best. Not scoring a point doesn’t mean your play was wrong for a second.
@mlh13674 жыл бұрын
Ron well yeah that does sound dumb. I’ve been a vball player since I was a kid and I’m playing in college now and you can never be 100% sure if a different person wouldve scored versus the person you chose to toss to. Like you said, sometimes, teams are just that good. There’s no guarantee that you will score. And if you think that, that’s underestimating your opponent, which we all know can lead to your downfall. It’s easy for people watching to critique and say what they think would’ve worked but in the game, you literally have very little time (1-3 seconds Damn near) to make a decision as a setter. It really depends on how high the pass to the setter is how long it’ll take but even so, players make the decisions that they think is best in the split second that they’re in the air ready to hit. Which is why you learn from that play and move differently the next point. As stated in Haikyu, whoever stops adjusting, loses. Everything happens so fast on the court and I can get that it’s easy to forget that because it’s not in real time in Haikyu

i feel like the fact that the players dont always receive the ball, meaning the opponents get points, is what makes these games so intense. esp since hq!! has shown time and time again that karasuno is capable of losing (ex: s1 finale). knowing that this team doesn't have plot armor to protect them from failure is what makes the viewers on the edge of their seat with every point lost. all that is to say, im GLAD Furudate wrote the series realistically. karasuno can't always pick up the ball when it enters their side of the court. as someone who's played tennis in hs and has watched many volleyball games, no matter how much training you go through, there are inevitably going to be points you lose bc you couldn't get to the ball before it hits your court. that's just the way the cookie crumbles.

The fact that they still don't understand the basics of Volleyball still is pretty aggravating, but I'll stick with it 👀

In these next two episodes it's not about 'keeping up" essentially everything is slowed down in order for us to gain a better perspective of the little nuances taking place. Hinata dealing with an uncomfortable block to narrow his course, oikawa missing the serve to display an ounce of what he's capable of and hinata's frustration with wanting to get the ball to demonstrate kageyama's attempt at better communication with his teammates, after so long being known not to do so. These smaller moments make for such a better understanding of what's going through our boys heads and how they counter it all. Pay closer attention to these & it'll all make a lot more sense in the next seasons.

The way Haikyuu's anime frame skips is actually directly out of the manga, hard as it is to believe. Usually for a hit, Furidate adds effects to show the path of the ball. However, during a set or receive where he wants to emphasise speed (a fair few freak quicks and numerous power serves) he literally just draws the character touching the ball and then where the balls ends up with no linking effect. You'd think it'd make it look LESS impressive, but it's a very simple and effective way of showing something that seems to fast for your eyes to track without taking away from the reality of it. Kudos to IG for taking that technique and incorporating it perfectly into an animated setting!

You guys should check out Golden Kamuy. Not a lot of people have reacted to it yet. Its an amazing show.

I know you are supporting karasuno, and I honestly love your reaction. But sheera needs to relax they can't receive every ball otherwise what would be fun and in the last attack with mad dog, he pushed aside even his own teammate how can you keep up with someone like that at his first reckless attack

@mzwethu38054 жыл бұрын
Love the reactions but yall need to realise that even the best pro volleyball team or the pro volleyball teams with the best defence would still lose a couple of points. It's not cause the defense sucks or that they're distracted or not ready, it's just that it's impossible to block every spike or receive every ball. Even against teams like shiratorizawa or defensively strong teams like aoba johsai or nekoma would still lose points cause it's part of the game. Teams scoring against karasuno isn't because of karasuno's weakness but more on the other team's strength. Just like karasuno can score against other defensively strong teams, other teams can score against karasuno as well.

LMAOOOO, I understand you want them to win badly but the thing with volleyball is receiving can be very I MEAN VERY hard, receiving has something to do with the eye and body coordination and sometimes the ball can be going faster than your eyes and you won't be able to catch it in time, and even if you do it'll def be hard to move your body to the speed of the ball, with those type of spikes and serves to come from neck's team it can be pretty difficult to get the ball and honestly with me being a volleyball player, receiving the ball can be heart-racing and somewhat scary because it takes guts (sometimes not always but you have to be ready to jump for the ball which is sometimes (in some cases) impossible) if someone spikes and you don't get it and you're closest to the ball all eyes are on you and it'll be somewhat hard to come back from that if you do receive the ball but you don't receive it correctly to the point where your body isn't bruised or injured you'll get yourself pretty hurt sometimes the ball can be going so fast you have to literally race to the other side of the court just to even have the tip of your fingers to reach under the ball and push it back up to your team. I do understand that it is frustrating and I do know that you guys def support them but please keep in mind in Haikyuu things are a lot more stretched out and slower than in actual volleyball.

Sheera this ain't galactic football or some, this is volleyball. They can't always save balls that come down crushing with acceleration up to 120 km/h. Please try to understand and don't demand the impossible. This anime comes as close as ut can get to real life, so it is unavoidable that they won't be able to "keep up"every single time.

'Ni__ where is it?' Funniest reaction I've seen to that serve XD Lupasan is so funny. And to what Roshi said about Volleyball with high risks, losing limbs. I actually really want to do this and plan to once my art is at a good level, its an idea I've had for a long time. So its nice to hear that other people want to see something like that too.

About the "bad first years" at the beginning: Japan's school year starts in april, so in che spring tournament, first years are in the team for like 2 weeks, so it's normal to be "weak". Because of this, the spring tournament is less important than the winter one
