Juan, I’m 20 years older than you, born in 1959, so that makes me a baby boomer. I remember in grade school going over to my friend’s grandparents house to see a color tv for the first time. I got my first job operating a computer when you were just a toddler, and the operating system was still DOS because Windows hadn’t been invented yet. Being able to carry a computer in my pocket was unbelievable.

I was watching an old episode of The Andy Griffith Show where Barney reveals he crochets to Andy. Sounded just like your story! He shared how he would send another family member to buy his yarn to avoid embarrassment. It must be awful to feel you have to hide something you love to do from the world. Juan, the granny stitch is my favorite. I love making granny squares. Sometimes I chain between each cluster, and sometimes I don’t. It depends on who I am making the granny squares for. If it’s a baby, I always eliminate the chain between each cluster, because I wantas few holes as possible, and want them to be small. By the way, I have decided to make beautiful squares and put them together with your method. It’s fast, neat, and I love it. Thanks for teaching us this method of joining granny squares.

Use a vacuum sealed bag for your blankets. Put dryer sheets in with them to keep them smelling fresh. This will save lots of space.

I wish I could have seen the happy dance of joy joy! Congratulations! When my dad was in the nursing home we used to pamper the others too. We used to take one woman outside with us. She loved it. Of course it was against the rule. Eventually we were not allowed to do it anymore. She really loved it. She was more alert than my dad so it was sad when we couldn't take her out with us. She had nobody. I still remember her. One of the gentleman was nice to my mom. He had a son who visited. He brought goodies. He gave her some Italian nougant candies, torrone. I was hooked. That's my nursing home perk story! I also got to watch old old movies. There is nothing like the very young and the very old....they both honestly tell you how it really is! Have you noticed the vintage crochet channels? I saw a video that popped up with blankets and thought of you and your vintage yarn. I wonder when variegated yarn came into popularity history wise. I can't remember my mom making anything with it. I guess you could say it wasn't all of her things!

I love these shows! I'm glad you decided not to have a channel just for your Mom. I was worried for her with some of the mean people that there and some who raid channels just try to cause problems. I wouldn't want her exposed to that kind of harassment. She is too sweet to have her feelings hurt!

Hi again. I love your granny squares, so bright and cheerful. I just finished an orange, yellow and white chicken hot pad (Crystal’s pattern, but 8” instead of 4”, upped the hook size, I like that for me.😄), and 2 small scrubbies, red, white and blue. I am working on my 2nd granny square washcloth, purple and white, 11” square, again cuz I upped my hook to an “I”, and therefore again, I like that for me. 😄

Juan, i loved hearing you talk about hanging with the seniors. Im a CNA in a nursing home and i do the same thing, playing into it i mean. I have residents call me mama, think im their granddaughter, etc. i play right along because it makes them happy. I even have one thatll kiss at my phone when i show her cat pictures because she loved cats. I plan on making all of lil grannies and granpas a hat soon.

I completly understand you. I also loved being around the aelderly in the home where my father was. Go with them not against them. My father had dementia. I also took one of my dogs and they loved it. I love you have such a big heart. ❤❤❤❤❤
