The first knot was a larks foot, and the others were indeed half hitches. Nice, thanks so much!

I can’t tell you how much you have helped my wife and I pull 5 big cable through a 2” inside diameter conduit! I am very grateful for your help and if you were here I would buy you a beer and a giant steak dinner. Thanks again.

I needed to pull some 12/2 wire through 150’ of conduit, so I Googled how to do it, and found your video. It worked beautifully! Thank you!

Okay so I was in a situation where I had 2 - 12/2 wires that I had tied together hoping to pull the new one thru- so one hole and a loop of wire to squeeze thru - wasn’t gonna happen. There was no accessing where this wire ran for about 4-5 feet from one hole to the next. I used this on both ends of the wire shoved them both into the abyss and said a little prayer- by pulling the accessible old wire I was also pulling the new wire thru where it was inaccessible- with a little wiggling on either accessible end I was able to get the new wire thru like a charm!!! Thanks!! Cheers

Great tip Craig - I'd mention that you staggered the three wire ends to keep things narrow after the pull string... Thanks!

I like the way you explain this, makes it easier to remember and faster in the field. I will use this method on my current project, thanks Instructor.

It worked, thank you. I staggered the 3 THHN wires pulled through 1/2 conduit (tight). Tied the knots in the video and carefully taped the knots and string. I also used some pulling lubricant and proper pulling line instead of masonry string, but it worked very well!

That's amazing! I tried it today on (4) #10's thru 3/4 pvc and emt at about 110 ft - - It worked great!
@hothmobile1004 ай бұрын
This is the best method. Thank you for sharing. First..... it's not good to use fish tape to pull wires, you can damage the fish tape. Secondly, this method makes the smallest head and uses less electrical tape which stops wires from bending through sweeps. If I try wrapping just 4 or 5 12 gauge wires with electrical tape more than 4 inches of tape, it doesn't want to bend through sweeps even in 3/4 pvc.

Awesome video! Needed to pull 3/0 cables in 2.5” conduit and used this method to get the job done. Was skeptical whether it would work on larger sized cables, but it went flawlessly. Thanks for the effort and please continue to produce such helpful content . . ,

Only if I knew this method 45 years ago... it could have been much easier to train my students when it comes to inserting cables into multiple bends in gi conduit exercises. By the way I still practice gi and pvc counuit wiring to this day. Not so much on income but always keep in touch with whatever skill I have... thanks for such wonderful idea.... thanks again.

You can improve it a little bit by cutting the ends of the wires on an angle so they are feathered for an easier pull.

works with nylon 1/4" rope on bigger teck as well, pulling through suck banks or into tray. I never have my guys half hitch onto RW with poly line, just tape the end of the twine on and half hitch it 6 or 7 times.

i will pulling a new spa wire which is a waterproof style 3 wire like a romex should i strip the romex to expose the 3 wires or tie to the sheath ? also there is a bonding cable that will remain will this compromise my pull ? thank you for the video i will use your method
@garbo896211 ай бұрын
The NEC does not allow either type NM-B cable or jacket removed inside if conduit. The wires are not marked to indicate voltage, type or temperature lime type THWN wire. No such thing in the code book called romax. Its a trade name from one of the numerous companies that manufacture NM-B cable.

You wanna be sure, it's a just in case thing. You don't want it to come apart after the wires are pulled almost all the way. You'd have to pull them back out. Don't be so quick to scrutinize.

@jaketwomey79247 ай бұрын
If there’s that much resistance where a simple knot won’t do…you’re hung up on a corner or the pipe is too full, and you should STOP pulling more cable. “Fold the knot over itself, and then pull tight, but make another loop, and feed the first loop into the 2nd loop, then make a hitch and add tape, but not TOO much tape, and then tape the knot to your asshole and then…” KNOCK IT OFF
