the technique used in this video is called the 'bow and arrow' technique, the 'bow' is your rod and your 'arrow' is your lure. Ive used this method before i learned how to skip under docks while fishing to bass, it's very affective method that i sometimes use from time to time when fishing on my float tube for bass and since im so low to the water it's easier to use this method then to attempt to actually skip. Great video, i will consider this technique when i try to catch my first Crappie.

Really enjoyed Mr. Crappie's video, and suspect he was fishing somewhere on LOZ. I've got one of his Lew's signature "shooters" and really like it. One of these days I'll give that hi-vis line a try.

This was shot on Chickamauga in Tennessee. It was really tough crappie fishing then. But he managed a few keepers on film in those conditions. His rods definitely work. I've limited out my last two trips using what he taught me on my home lake (Ky Lake). Thanks for watching!

Be really careful- some dock owners don't appreciate fishermen slinging metal jigs at their expensive fiberglass speed boats!
@kitcarson7572
@kitcarson7572 9 жыл бұрын
StormLaker1975 Yes us experienced dock fishermen do not fish around docks if the owners are present and enjoying their day. There are lots of docks on most lakes and it is simple courtesy to not fish docks if the owners are enjoying their day. Also those commercial docks with video cameras and no fishing signs are also best avoided. Nothing makes more noise than a bit of a brain fart and smacking an aluminum pontoon with a jig. Do not do that if the owner is eating breakfast in the shoreline gazebo............Chuckle!! Cheers!

I remember one fall morning I was down at LOZ fishing for bass around this one cove- lots of nice houses around it, etc. As I approached this one set of docks, I literally had a homeowner run down to the end of the dock and tell me that I couldn't fish within 50 feet of HIS dock or his neighbor's.......So I looked right at him and said "Oh, the fishing must be pretty good under YOUR dock....sad to say this isn' YOUR lake, haha". And promptly threw my crankbait 5 feet off the end of his dock- and nailed a stout 18 inch bass off the brush pile down there, lol.

We fish Chickamauga, and as for that water color on the video. Pretty much how it looks most of the time to me. How would the pros classify that? Muddy, stained, clear or other? I’d call it stained and choose my jig colors with that thought. And then try any color. Hehe, Just curious as we’re new to it and would like a baseline pro opinion.

good technique, but some people aren't so friendly having boats that close to their dock. Legal or not, their complaint is they don't like having hooks stuck through the dock. I fish docks so can't say I;m against it, but I don't come that close just in case someone is cranky lol

+jumbalyiajefferson Seen a guy drown because of an over fished dock.. He was trying to save a kid who had fallen in at the dock.. He was a strong swimmer; he swam around the dock and around, then wasn't found.. Firemen pulled him out said his legs were caught in lots line and him being tired he couldn't free himself.. I was 10 yrs old then 2nd dead person seen and do not like to see anglers at the docks since.. The kid had been pulled in the current out the harbor into open water, they found him two days later..

Spring and fall but if the dock has brush and deep water under it, it can hold crappie all months of the year. On lakes like Lake of the Ozarks the catch crappie shooting docks spring, fall, winter and even summer.

A dock cannot limit anyone from fishing around it, unless the rules are changed where one can only come so close, and or get permission to fish it...NO chance of that happening.

Basshunter186 Wally actually grabs the jigs by their head so he never is in contact or around the hook. He teaches his clients to do the same. I sometimes grab the bend of the hook and other times I grab the head. Never been hooked and I've shot 1000s of times. But it is to get the grip and technique down before getting to far ahead of yourself.
@kitcarson7572
@kitcarson7572 9 жыл бұрын
Basshunter186 You will be fine, just hold the jig head with hook forward and inside. Get a six foot six or longer rod with a fast tip and with a bit of practice it is amazing how accurate you can become. I even fish for largemouth bass by shooting docks. ..........Here comes Bubba and Bubby and make two casts beside a dock, then fire up the boat and off they go to the secret place 10 miles across the lake, I just shoot a small finese worm under the same dock and catch a bass or two. I have more fun with that, and when Bubba and Bubby see me at the ramp, did you do any good, sure did I have a limit. No you do not they say, we did not see a fish all day. Well look in the livewell. Gee what did you catch them on? I like to keep a rod on the boat deck with something like a purple Rattletrap or something, yep I caught em on that. I mean you do have to have a bit of fun............Chuckle. Cheers!!
