This video explains how to install a GTA Car Kit that enables Wireless Apple CarPlay and Wireless AndroidAuto in Mercedes AMG GT, AMG GTC, AMG GTS, AMG GTR 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 model years (C190 / R190).

Just installed mine! Took ~1.5 hours for me (I never work on cars). Seems to be working great so far, no difference in audio quality and everything works wirelessly!

How / where did you drill the required holes? Are you using the USB wire for anything?

@@SteveK99Sub I haven’t drilled them yet and I’m not using the extra usb. Honestly considering just leaving it under the center console and just using a trim tool to get access to it if I ever need it.

Yes, everything will be the same, except that traction control button in the dashboard. But it still gets removed the same way.

I can understand why you need the auxiliary wire and adapter to plug into the existing USB port to get sound or is it sound and power? BUT why do you need the extra USB wire? Not thrilled about drilling one hole for auxiliary but if it's wireless why do you need the USB wire?

Some phones require it for the initial setup of wireless functionality. Plus that USB is used for updates to the module. Thank you

Thinking about installing the kit, but im worried about the possibility of installing an aftermarket system and it frying my head unit, which would be a very costly repair. Is this something i need worry about? I also dont want to drill any holes for wires etc.

Here we are, got the answers: - The kit comes with a USB female, that is used for wired connection and also to be able to do firmware upgrade of the carplay kit. Which means it is not mandatory to use. - The audio is mandatory to use in order to have the audio coming from the carplay module to play on the car. In other words, your phone is connected wireless to the carplay module, you still need to have the audio cable plugged with the adapter , from the carplay module to the mercedes USB plug. In other words it is like re-injecting the sound into the USB of the car. If you dont then you wont have sound.
