- Turn on ACC (do not start the engine)
- Plug this OBD tool to car's OBD diagnose socket.
- Your car's screen will display DIAG and waiting for restart.
- Your car's head unit will restart and enter into menu after 10
seconds.
- Unplug the OBD tool and connect your phone, follow the prompts
to confirm

Hi, this tool is not compatible with your new facelift model of the CLA. It only works on certain pre-facelift models up to manufacturer date 2019! . There will be a new tool available in the future for the newer models just not yet so you will have to just wait or pay the amount of £360 to Merc to activate it.

Nice, i have bought the same one as you, installed it on the car. Android auto and car play ate in the system menu. Also when going into system via end call +1+# carplay is on. Which wasn't before. I connected my s21 ultra after it asks to connect device and the message goes away but then nothing. From your other video you said it works better with apple carplay. Bought a 2016 GLA250 in Feb 2024 in USA. Door sticker says 09/15 build date. VIN WDCTG4GBXGJ191352. Inserted new SD card with updated maps to see device information. Just like yours, reads NTG5Star1. Software version 19/40.0 60.47. tried multiple times to go into engineering mode. Doesn't work. But I will keep trying. Anyway, my question is should I get that ODB device even if my door jamb says the manufacture date is september of 2015? And according to the VIN data sheet information, it says I have the item 522 audio 20. Does that mean I do not have comand? I'm very confused about that because it is not very clear from all of your videos if audio20 and ntg5 is the same as comand or separate audio systems. I really wanted to go into engineering mode so I could try to select the car play feature if available. I also have the two USB ports, with the one on the right having a different type of multimedia device

The reason Android Auto doesn't works can depend on one of the two reasons: 1. The tool you used was some fake Chinese copy that cant enable Android Auto 2. Your hardware in the vehicle does not support Android Auto as its a 2016 model and Android Auto were introduced towards the end of 2016/start of 2017.

No, it cannot be set up using Bluetooth. Bluetooth will only transmit your music and tel from the phone thats all.

Hello I have mercede CLA shooting brake from 2016 and I bought this activation tool. When I plugged in tool to OBD diagnose socket screen showed "Diagnosis" for about 1 second, then it returned to normal screen like nothing happened. No menu asking questions or anything showed up. I also can't enter the engineering menu. Can I have wrong firmare version in my mercedes or wrong NTG5 device? Maybe it is a problem with the activation tool?

Sorry, this model is not supported by this method. You will need to buy an aftermarket infotainment system that comes with Apple Carplay to replace your current Mercedes infotainment system.

Hi, that's strange. It could happen for a number of reasons. It could be that the software on your vehicle is dated and it probably had this bug which is resolved in a later version but requires an update from the dealer. It could be the cable you are using or the phone or the iOS version. If you have access to trying different items on the above, I would give that a try first.

Lastvin has these details for my car Model series 176 (assuming that means W176) AUDIO 20 RADIO NAVIGATION CAPABLE NTG5 Not sure if that means 5.0 or 5.1 or 5.5 Would the OBD cause damage if not compatible? Suggestions appreciated

That sounds like it should work. The car in the video is also a w176 but its down to a number of factors, hardware and software and depending on your build year it would mean whether you have a compatible one or not. If you vehicle is compatible then it will activate it. If its not then it could damage the audio system.

@@ManiSuReal thanks for the reply. I watched your maker diag video and it appears i have the exact same system in my car. HW numbers and SW numbers all match. The literal only difference of course is the Serial Number of the system. HMI years match too

Once you have successfully activated one, it cannot be done on another. You will have to buy a new adapter. 2015 I dont think is supported.

Sorry there hasn't been. The hardware on the GLC is not supported. It will require a retrofit solution meaning changing the entire audio system for one that supports Apple Carplay. Hopefully this helps.

Are you able to control CarPlay via. The steering wheel? (E.g. changing tracks on music) My A-Class 2016 AMG Line came fitted with CarPay, but it doesn’t let me change tracks via. The Audio menu on the wheel, it just says “CarPlay active”

Yea I don't think you are able to do that. With normal Bluetooth audio, it's possible. I will have a look at mine and let you know but almost certain.
