He went on to describe his brother’s snare drum as having a sound that is “brown”. In Eddie’s mind, this was the perfect word to describe Alex Van Halen’s warm snare tone - (“I’ve always thought Alex’s snare drum sounds like he’s beating on a log” said Eddie). However, the word “brown” seemed to resonate with thousands of guitar players, who read the article as the perfect way to describe Eddie’s early guitar tone: Warm, organic and powerful. Henceforth, “The Brown Sound” was forever known as a very-high gain guitar sound that exudes liquid sustain, warmth and organic response.

Also the US Army toyed with broadcasting sounds over loudspeakers at the enemy that had the same resonance as the human bowel tissue. Causing them to lose bodily control and so be unable to fight. 💩 Known as the Brown Noise Experiments.
The Brown Sound term was originally used in the 70's when referring to Eric Clapton's sound.

I really wished you demoed this with an acoustic guitar! There's lots of people looking for a portable amp to go busking with, and currently there's still not a best-in-class amp for that purpose. If it works like the Boss 50 and 100, holding the Panel button down for a few seconds will switch Ch1 and Ch2 to a second bank so that the amp has four presets instead of two. Also, if you adjust the amp to settings you really like. holding down the Ch1 or Ch2 button for a few seconds will save it to that bank. There's a way to reboot to original settings if you ever want, but you'll have to look it up. Download the Boss app on your phone and laptop. There are more options than you can imagine when you get into the settings.

This is a great amp and has all the same features as the bigger katana artist amps with its 50 plus effects , 4 usable at same time. Cab resonance choices. Line out sir feel choices. Able to put all some one or none of the effects in front or behind amp changing effects chain. Global and parametric eq- which doesn't use up a mod or fx slot. The sounds possible are infinite. I never touch the amp I use it wireless to guitar and use Bluetooth boss tone app to control the sounds and effects- some of which have up to 3 pages of adjustment!! None of the other katanas are wireless guitar and wireless app for amp control that's why I got the air It's a mind blowing amp. And sound from it is just amazing. The yamaha thr and vox adio are just click a Preset tone add an effect with minimal adjustment- far too restrictive. And as a gigging head just connect to one or more frfr speakers sounds great. But it's already loud really loud at full volume and if you go into parametric eq and keep the settings flat and adjust level only it goes even louder as I I lyrics found out recently. Easily loud enough to play a small pub gig. Only thing I want them to do on next incarnation or update is separate out booster menu from mod menu other than that it's perfect

And... If it goes up to 11, that is the Amp, indeed!! I will be looking into this, and please yes, I want to see you, "🏃 Around Jamming out on your 🎸, using your wireless amp, DØVYDÅS!" OH MAN, I love that BOSS Amp!! I've got to have it!!! I will have it, it will be my Knight in Shining Armor, coming to my emotional rescue!!! OK as I was writing this that's funny that you said and it does go up to 11.... Because my first sentence I said as long as it goes up to 11, that is the amp, indeed!! This is very exciting!!! I've always liked BOSS products!! This will be what I will be asking for Christmas... I just need to figure out a way how to sit up in bed and play the guitar now... Since I'm basically bed ridden. I can get up and be around, just no longer then an hour out of bed. But... I cannot sit up in anyway and play the guitar because every time I do I end up in a lot of pain.... so for those of those needing back surgery or possibly needing back surgery stay far far and away from it there are other better alternatives and always get two to three opinions if I had I would not have ended up where I am today 18 years later. I had a bulging disc that would have repaired itselfand unfortunately I believe the lying doctor and on top of that he was a horrible neurosurgeon.... Andy had high risk insurance and I didn't know that so that's something else you want to look out for before doctor goes doing surgery on you....I had a great lawsuit but since he had high risk insurance no lawyer would take it after they found that out because the high risk insurance would just keep drawing it out and nothing good would come of it... he has to basically really kill someone in order to lose his license and he hasn't done that... so what I get to do now is at least warn people to stay far far away from back surgery I've known people to be in horrible horrible accidents that had to have back surgery and they're out around working and yes they may be in a little bit of pain but they're able to go on about in life.. ... Anyways, I can't wait to try this and BOSS AMP out, thanks for sharing with us, DØVYDÅS!!! Christmas is not to far away, and I have something to look forward too!! Fantastic Engineers as...BOSS, love how it unplugs and it does not feedback at all.... Also you're the Perfect person *DØVYDÅS* to describe this *Killer BOSS Amp* From playing on it, do describing it, it's uh, how you say, *Mahvelous, Absolutely.... Mahvelous, Dahling* or might I say, *Fantabulous*

It would be great if it was affordable but you can do this and much more with an iRig 2. I would love to have one but I can’t justify that kind of $$ for a “practice” amp. I know it’s got the whole wireless thing going on but you can buy those wireless devices all day long from $20 to $100 and so on. Not to mention for that much $$ they could’ve at least installed a rechargeable lithium battery.

MyName Here I love the concept of these bits of kit but I had a similar opinion when I checked one out for a while. The new THR from Yamaha is a bit better to my ears, but I’m primarily a bassist and like my gear to pull a lot of double duty. No doubting that the katana line is great overall, but I didn’t keep my katana air.
@Terrible_Peril5 жыл бұрын
Hank Hill I’ve been using an iPad as a primary amp/effects processor for some time and would often plug it into amps, powered speakers, etc. and while you’re absolutely right about that routing setup, and while the katana more often had a more “amp like” feel vs the iPad apps I use for guitar signals, the iPad was more usable overall and thus the katana had to go. Utility is big to me. The katana has a good bit, and far more convenience (the main selling point of the air in my opinion), than an iPad based rig, but as I’ve already got the dingleberries and management experience, and use the iPad for much more than guitar stuff, it just made more sense for my use. But I would totally agree. The katana air is usable for a lot of things, and can be a great investment for a huge swath of users, but I’ve invested in ecosystems that make it more purely a convenient and simple “get some basic tones into the air” device that I couldn’t justify.
@Terrible_Peril5 жыл бұрын
Hank Hill thank you for the kind words. Certain life events in my personal history made utility and “portability” key factors for me. Portability is relative of course. And I still want stuff. Mostly basses and pedals. If I were smart I probably would have gone for a small form factor pc instead of the iPad but I was roped in by a deal way back in the 1st gen days and the iPad just became a centerpiece for my creative outlets. I’m not upset about that, because the apps I’ve got are absolutely incredible, but Apple as a company is.... yeah. So I’m always worried about the iPad as a hardware device, but what it allows me to do with the apps from so many amazing devs is indispensable.
