I have been trying to figure out how to run my PWM and wireless controller together. My goal is to set the PWM output and have the motor only run with input from wireless controller. I initially tried doing it in parallel with no luck, so I'm gonna try a series setup and hope for the best. I think part of my problem is I set up my wireless controller to also have a manual Joystick controller.

Hello: I have a inflatable pontoon fishing boat and a 50 pound Minn Kota (MK) trolling motor. I have estimated the average load in the boat will be about 325 pounds. I also have a Mighty Max ML35-12 -Volt 35 Ah battery. The MK 50 operates on a max power of 50 amps. I am considering buying a PWM controller to obtain better battery use rather than a stock situation. How many hours of operation can I expect with the addition of a PWM controller? What equipment do you suggest. What other changes might be more efficient? 1) purchase a 30-pound trolling motor about $120 to use less amperage, 2) purchase a larger battery, or 3) adding a second battery? My goal is to have about 8 hours of fishing time, mostly anchored but with say 1 ½ hrs .of moving from place to place.

Great Video and thnx for the info. I have a motor myself and the only thing I was concerned by capping off the white and yellow wires was if I had to bypass the coil also that seats sealed at the lower end of the motor. I have read something about possible current backfeeding that is why I am asking. Thnx again.

I'm a little bit confused. Are you running the positive and negative motor wire on the pwm back inside of the control head and splicing into it? I also have a question on the battery wiring. I have a quick connect positive and negative coming off my trolling motor because I run in hull wiring to the front hatch where I keep my battery. Would it be ok to splice into the the battery wires coming out of the unit instead of hooking the negative and positive battery connections on the pwm directly to the battery? I'm trying to make sure I completely understand everything before I get started.

Enjoy your videos very much. I have three of the wireless trolling pro units and one is defective due to my mistakes of plugging the battery into the output of the unit. Maximum smoke occurred and now does not work. Are you aware of anyone I can contact to attempt repairs since the original company is no longer around?

I am using the Wireless Trolling Pro brand. They have a website but apparently they have not been active lately. Last I heard, the company was starting up again. If you look at some of my other PWM speed controller videos, I give links to the parts used.

Thanks Oscar. Unfortunately, it appears that the company has suspended business operations (or quit). I shortened that one to 22 inches but the length depends on your kayak.

As far as I know, it is recommended for freshwater use. I'm sure you could use it but salt would eventually corrode the parts and you can't wash it down to clean it.

Try the controller from Gama www.gamainc.com/product/t-sc-12v/ I have had much better luck with this one than the one you mention. If you try a Gama, call them, they change the frequency of the pwm for trolling motors so there is not any whine. Very responsive to my questions. The negative is that it is only 30amp. So far I have not blown a circuit with a Minn Kota 45. Remote is waterproof and I dropped it in saltwater twice so far and still kicking.

Cory Turner Working very well, have a 30 amp fuse to protect the unit from damage and no issues yet. It will get hot under constant use however, so have a way to vent it. Plan to make a walk through video of my setup sometime in the future and good luck with yours 👊🏽

I just got mine same one that you got but the face plate of the control knob is scratched up and it doesn’t look the same as yours looks like an old version looks like somebody had mine before and then sent it back I hooked it up the way they said to him the way you showed. And when I turn it on it pulsates and when I go to reverse it does the same thing. I’m not at all happy with this unit. I’m gonna send it back and request my money back. I’ve left phone call after phone call to them and I’ve gotten no response. I think this company is not a very good company I know they’re out of Spokane Washington. And I live not very far from there facility. I am very disappointed in my purchase. Anybody reading this do not get this product from this company. You will be sorry
