There is an experience some people know as "the completed life," which simply means a person perceives when their life is complete. It does not necessarily even involve illness at the end of life. The person simply knows that now is the time to arrange to just fall asleep and not wake up.

In my neighborhood, there was a husband and wife. They both were 75 years old, healthy with no issues, but they said, 'We feel our life is complete. We did everything that we wanted, and now it's time to go.' They both spent their last week with their kids, grandkids, relatives, and friends, and on the last day of their life, they had a very good breakfast, lunch, watched their favorite movie and football match, listened to their favorite song and story, and had a peaceful dinner and favorite fruit juice. After this, they peacefully died together in their bedroom on 20 January 2021.

People like to have power over others. Plain and simple. I'll exit at my choosing thanks. In the event I cannot, ill consider myself buggered at the hands of other people.

Thank you SO much for making this video! I am writing a school paper on physician assisted suicide, and this video was a great resource, it perfectly covers both sides of the argument and isn't biased, only giving each point of view and the facts!!

@b.v.437 I'm so sorry I didn't see this comment earlier, but I appreciate you sharing an experience you know! My paper was on how, in the right circumstances, physician assisted suicide can be okay. Even though I finished the paper, I still love learning more about this subject. So again, thank you for sharing the story, it definitely adds perspective. 😁👍

Should it not be Jack’s choice? So glad we have MAiD in Canada.

If it's solely Jack's choice, then he can check himself out of the hospital and take his own life at home. If he wants others' help (esp. doctors who have taken the Hippocratic oath), then the issue has changed.

And now how’s that working out for you?? “Canadian army-veterans diagnosed with PTSD offered euthanasia”
@armileft
@armileft 5 ай бұрын
I believe calling euthanasia a murder may be misleading. It can never be considered a murder. To clarify, it is usually only those persons’ options who are in great pain and dying of deadly conditions (such as cancer). People whose health is overall good may never use euthanasia. The whole purpose of this procedure is to guarantee agency to people suffering to choose their own fate. Secondly, the point about “forcing doctors to go against their moral choices” may be abused by right-wing groups and used in contexts such as queer people’s treatment (as in queer people may be dismissed by those doctors who are homophobic). Patients’ autonomy and personal choice must come first. Lastly, I do understand the concerns about the potential of taking advantage of euthanasia. I think of the government’s potential mishandling of the procedure for its own political interests. However, instead of fighting against euthanasia as a whole, thus limiting many people’s access to the choices about their own bodies, I suggest we focus on better regulations to limit the government’s access to the procedure.

Nah, there is also something called "Not Having the Will to Live anymore", it is up to one individual to decide to keep playing in their own version of hell or to exit the game to stop the mental pain.

"If there is no god then everything is permitted" Dostoevsky answered this question long ago. So if you are not religious person that means for you everything is permitted including euthanasia .

And if you oppose end-of-life choice, you have less compassion than Al Qaeda. At least the 9/11 hijackers got to die instantly.

Please don't engage in logical fallacies like the slippery slope fallacy.
@mattcorby
@mattcorby Жыл бұрын
It's only a fallacy if you can't say or show that would actually happen or not. I'm all for euthanasia, and agree that (as far as I can see) unintended consequences of allowing it can be negated fairly easily - we can prevent the ball rolling too far by legislating or using ethical frameworks.

I recommend you study moral reasoning (argumentation). In ethics, this is the ‘slippery slope argument’. Just because all future outcomes do not yet exist does not make all predictions meaningless, nor does it make any action permissible.
