Just what I needed to get my old 25 HP wired up. Been setting for awhile and the wires had no insulation and broke into, so this really helped as I want to get it running again for a project for my channel. Thanks for posting

That’s truly a Frankenstein motor ! I’d mount the key switch on the lower cowl if it stays a tiller ! I do have NOS remote cables but like you said there hard to come bye , the 2 I have I’d like to keep but I believe at Tomahawk Starvin Marvin has them for sale ! That’s a pull / electric start hood which in good shape are hard to find also with a 60’s Johnson tiller handle but all in all a motor worth building in my opinion ! Up here the starter bracket is worth almost as much as the outboard ! Nice informative video , your a wealth of knowledge my friend !

Nice informative video ! I wrote my comment out once and hit the wrong button ! Lol. The starter bracket is almost worth as much as the outboard ! At Tomahawk Starvin Marvin usually has the NOS harness for sale , I have 2 for my collection ! I look for good connection plugs and rebuild them ! The meet is August 3 - 6 so if your needing something let me know ASAP ! I’ll look for that stuff maybe low tension points or coil packs or fuel pump conversion plates or recoils what ever you need ! Im stocking up on Martin parts myself that and Bail-O-Matic parts !

@Maddog worker that’s to bad but neither have I ! Lol. I have about 12 motors needing work but no motivation. Just about completed my 1958 Johnson collection ! Only 1 more to get ( 35hp ) and then I’ll have the 3,5 1/2, 7 1/2 , 10 , 18 , 25 and 35 all 1958 runners in really nice shape !

I have a Evinrude 4 hp 1970s and it works great!! But would you recommend this brand and rate it a good brand just curious 🧐 and just for the record your videos helped me understand certain things about my outboard engine so thanks so much and keep up the good work😁

Nice uses of the Mercury leftovers. I bet if you had a larger cranking battery that starter would spin. I had issues with my seadoo and using a smaller battery it wouldn’t crank it over. Also the starter is 28 years old so it’s getting rebuild soon.
@davekimbler2308
@davekimbler2308 3 жыл бұрын
I’d bet it wouldn’t ! That starter is probably full of sand and the brushes are non-existent !

@@davekimbler2308 I think you’re correct pretty easy to rebuild just did a seadoo starter last night and the brushes were down to the wires with thick black gunk everywhere. But it works like new now.

I picked up a 25 hp Johnson exactly like this for free from my neighbor. It's in great condition but the pull start is rusted and stuck. This may be a dumb question but. Could I use the same wiring setup and just cross the wires without spending money on a starter switch?

So what if my motor has a neutral safety switch, do I just hook it up to the negative?
@BrandonsGarage
@BrandonsGarage Жыл бұрын
Yes, to the negative side of the starter solenoid. ....that way, it only has ground when in neutral.

Brandon... quick question..... 1979 evinrude 85 ho.... the title trim work great with the motor ...... when I use the manual relief screw... the motor lowers to the trim cylinders and stops..wont lower past that on its own... which relieves valve would cause that on the trim housing? ... thoughts... I enjoy all the information on your channel... thanks

@@BrandonsGarage No sir... with me standing on it and jumping....works great except for the manual release screw.... trim and tilt cylinders rebuilt a couple days ago..... this problem was there prior to rebuilding cylinders .... had leaks on trim cylinders..(rebuilt and topped off fluids) .. everything was clean inside ... minus a little mixing of water... problem still there after fixing the leaks on the cylinders

I just dont know the internal glow of the trim assembly in relation to the manual release screw.... thanks a bunch for mulling it over with me

Sir, you are probably my last hope… I’m trying to find somebody that knows how to hook up and wire one of the old 60s evinrude generators? It’s on my 33hp skitwin late 60s. It looks almost just like a starter motor, and connects to the flywheel,with a belt, that much I know, buts all I know, I want to make it work without destroying it trying…
