As an update after riding 18K miles on the Garmin XT: The vibration of the bike is bad enough that it damages the tiny connector pins on the Garmin XT. I’ll reached out to Garmin but they don’t have a solution other than mounting the GPS to a place with less vibration. I’ll be looking at other options for either fixing the XT or replacing the Garmin with another SatNav system. Stay tuned…

Yeah I’ve just brought the xt2 and heard some people have had the same issue. Have u been able to get a replacement from Garmin at all?

@ One of our XT units is under warranty so we could get a replacement, but the problem with the vibration and mount will still produce the same result, We’ve had some luck with conductive tape to replace the XT contacts but it’s only good for about a month of riding before we have to replace the tape again. I’ll be trying a conductive type glue next…

Perfect. I’ve used that side for the 12 Volt adapter. I’ll try to find the connector for the USB on the other side of the dash.

All good! In fact the Kawasaki adapter is already wired to plug into that plug so it makes sense. Good luck!

Excellent video, very clear, easy to follow and understand! Thank you! You totally changed how I had my Zumo XT wired. I'm doing it your way.

Hi, very helpful video. Wondering, what is the size in mm of the bullet connector?
@viajarMOTO6 ай бұрын
Not sure on the mm size, but they are the standard bullet connectors that you find at all auto parts stores.

Size is 0.157” 22-16 AWG. There are multiple sizes. Get the right ones!

Thank you. There's a "relay" you pointed to. I didn't hear or get what purpose this serves. Can you explain?

It provides 12v power to the auxiliary connectors when the ignition key is turned on.

Are you guys gonna visit the Redwoods? I’d love to see a video about that

Perhaps someday - not on this trip, however.

Are those connectors available on 650 Adventure ABS? I can't see up into that space and don't want to take apart the bike if they are not there. I do have the factory aux lights.
@viajarMOTO6 ай бұрын
I’m sure the connectors are there but I cannot speak to if they are being used for some other auxiliary. If I were to guess, I would say they are not being used and are available for connecting a GPS unit.

They are there on KLR 650 Adventure model but are used to power the 12V outlet on the dash. I personally never use it so I disconnected it and plugged my Garmin NAV instead.
