Doing the wiring at the switch like we do here in New Zealand avoids the headache of working in stuffy attics and lofts.

Its always worth using a 3core cpc as a switch wire so you have a live feed in the light. It doesn't need to be used or made live but its handy especially on a upstairs circuit in case a loft light or even for a feed to outside light.

Another good video you would be surprised how many sparks just out of their time connect switches by being shown how but don't really understand how they actually work When it comes to 2 way and intermediate I always make them show me an alternative to what's norm for them then you think to yourself thank christ it no my house lol

Excellent videos - a quick question, in the bathroom I am preparing to wire in LED down lights using the 2 Plate method and I need to wire in a fan extractor with a run on time (fan continues to run after the lights are switched off) therefore need to use a 3 core cable. How do you wire this into the light switch and a fan isolation switch as well. Thank you

If there are already two permanent lives and two earth cables within the first switch's terminals, how is the feed then taken to the next lighting point in the house? I'm assuming the feed goes from switch to switch. but isn't it a struggle to introduce yet another T&E cable into the already crowded terminals? Or am I just being daft?

So how would you wire 2 x 4 gang switches for 2 way switching? i.e. operating 4 different lights from 2 x 4 gang switch locations. Example a kitchen. gang 1 down-lights, gang 2 wall lights, gang 3 plinth lights, gang 4 pelmet lights on/off from either location using this 2 plate method?

I've used this method in my house on two spots in the hallway, and then with the intermediate 3 way in my kitchen. After working through some basic issues for both jobs I'm not left with pulsating lights in the kitchen (not meant to be). I've checked the connections at the lights and the switches, and now don't know what to do next. Any ideas?

Hi, with loop at switches adding extractor fans or smoke alarms would be an issue as there is no permanent live at a local pendant, would you take the smoke and extractor to switches as well?

Extractor yes. Smokes won’t go to the switch as they wouldn’t be on a switch. Connection is made in the smoke alarm and one of the smokes will be fed from the consumer board

Hello, I was trying to change upstairs lights switch to zigbee smart one, I did “copy-paste” from my one gang switcher( brown L to L, silver & blue with brown sleeve to L1, black with brown sleeve & brown to L2). Everything working perfectly, except when I press downstairs switch on, power in my smart switch gone. I was trying different combinations, but can’t find a solution. Can you give me any advance or idea 💡 or do I need to call a pro ? Than you

It does work like that, this is just another way of doing it, I prefer it your way as there’s less cables in 1 terminal
