FYI a Honda mechanic actually suggested this method to me when I got my bike as the simplest way to power a satnav!

Thanks again Terry for another great 'how to' video. I have a Garmin sat nav for my new NC750X which has 2 wires, positive and negative so if I attached the positive + to the brake wire like you did where would the negative - wire go to?
@terrysmith-NC750X Жыл бұрын
If you look at the video again I put a ring connector on the negative and attached it to the screw that secures the brake lever. I'll send a pic tomorrow if you email your contact details 👍

Very useful. I have an Innovv Power Hub that I intend to install on my NC to manage all the accessories. One of my questions/thoughts was where to access a switched live supply so the front brake light switch looks like a possibility. If I get a chance, I'll video my installation or at least take photos.

For a power hub - depends where you are going to put it - it may be better to use one of the rear light circuits rather than the front brake switch circuit as that is located on the handle bars and probably wouldn't suit the power hub. just a thought

You have a spare relay slot, you just find "ignition live" pin and plug your "positive" wire that goes to relay. It does not have any big current because it just kicks the relay that closes the next circuit which is connected to your battery, and there you can have lights, chargers for sat nav and so on.
@terrysmith-NC750X Жыл бұрын
Can you advise where the relay is located?
@robans Жыл бұрын
@@terrysmith-NC750X Next to the battery there is fuse box, there you can see some relays, but also, there is a slot for aditional relay you dont have except if you bought for exampe auxiliary lights from Honda and they installed them. You will recognize the slot because it has 2 vertical and 2 horizontal pin slots. One of those slots is live when you give a contact on your key. You need a multimeter or just 2$ inspection lamp with cable for 24v to find the live slot. When you find it you can use it as your contact for aditional relays, so no messing and striping your running lights or ignition wires. It is already there, you just need to find it and it is not so hard. You can watch some youtube videos where people install those original relays so you can easier find it.

@@robans thanks for the info, very much appreciated. I'll have a look tomorrow but I do have the spot lights fitted so the slot may be used. I'll look tomorrow and update. Cheers Terry

Can I ask what make and model of Sat Nav and mounting bracket you use? Thanks

Hi Chris it's a tomtom rider with a matching mount. Sat nav is expensive but mount is very cheap bought off ebay

I assume it's fully waterproof?
@terrysmith-NC750X9 ай бұрын
@@chrisyates3598 the rider version is fully waterproof and I've proven this as I've been caught in some heavy downpours. If your chosen a bike sat nat nav do some research. Garmin is an alternative, although bike sat navs are expensive. If you want to reduce the costs considerably a car sat nav, they will put up with light showers and are half the price. If they fail you can replace them cheaply. Ultimately you pay your money and get what you pay for.
