I find it funny how Wirtual is a super popular Twitch streamer (and a good one at that!) and seemingly doesn't understand computer troubleshooting. I run Trackmania at 1080p60 on a GTX 1650 laptop with two Chrome windows in the background, there's no good reason a 3080 shouldn't easily be hitting over 100fps.

On the browser battle, I would highly recommend Opera GX. It's a gaming oriented browser that is very smooth and actually has options built in where you can toggle a throttle for CPU and RAM usage so while gaming it does not eat up resources.

For the love of god, your FPS is low because the game is using MSAA x16 which in very dumbed down terms means it's running some parts of your scene and upscales it 16 times to smooth out edges. VERY VERY performance intensive.

When you start up Edge it lets you import all your stuff from chrome as a part of set up, so there is no real issue there. And when i was working as tech support a common step was to tell people to ditch chrome. It is a resource hog.

So to those people who it may pertain, even if your RAM isn't full, your PC still uses a swapfile (sometimes called virtual memory) by default on your main hard drive that basically caches data it doesn't think it will use in a long time or isn't time sensitive. If you let windows manage how much is allocated, it is going to be constantly allocating and deallocating memory and on your slowest to use memory. Chrome is a memory hog and uses some ram, but also uses a very significant amount of your swapfile. You can manually set the size of you swapfile, and it will decrease your hard drive space by a fixed amount, windows isn't constantly having to do as much memory management. If you have multiple drives you can also use swapfiles on multiple drives. If you have an SSD and set it to house your swapfile, you will see a huge performance boost likely.

Firefox is good. You might be able to transfer most of your information across browsers with extensions being the tricky bit to transfer or restore. Typically Firefox uses less ram in my experience. I’ve heard opera gx works pretty well, but I haven’t used it enough to advise on its performance. I don’t think opera has nearly the same extension support, but I think it does have a built in VPN you can use. It’s not a good vpn but it’s there.

If Chrome uses your CPU just open Task Manager and kill the "Software Reporter Tool" processes. This is what's causing the lag and it's not needed for Chrome to work at all.

This actually isn't funny. When I saw how much FPS he gained by killing Chrome and then hearing the PC has been on for months... this is insane. I have serviced PCs for a living for 25 years man. Windows DOES NOT DO WELL if you don't reboot it at least a couple of times per week. And that's frankly minimal if you are a gamer. You should actually shut that damn thing off every day and make sure the updates get done when you aren't playing. Start taking this seriously. You are a top tier pro gamer and that FPS boost from turning off Chrome was insanity. Run that browser and all that crap on some other PC. Do it because you are too good to be literally throwing away wins because of performance issues of your hardware. Your computer is your pro sporting tool. Treat it like one for crying out loud.

All the inputs it receives build up in a buffer until the next compute frame, which in certain games (like possibly trackmania), often occur in tandem with visual frames or at some multiple of the visual frame rate to keep the game running smooth, and ensure that the visuals accurately represent your inputs. In a game where precision and accuracy matters, more frames means more compute frames, which means faster inputs and more of them, which means less interpolation, which means more precise control. We all know how it feels to play a game at 15 FPS, I imagine. Jittery, jumping around, can't really control your inputs with any level of precision. That's not just because of the visuals being choppy, it's because the computation of the game is slower, takes longer, and has to compute where you'll be on the next frame before the frame even renders. If the frame takes longer, it has to interpolate based on what your last input was and the information it already has about the game world. It can't take in more inputs while it's doing that, because if it did, it'd have to start over, you'd get rubber banding, and it'd take so much longer to compute especially if you keep hammering keys over and over like most people do in games that require quick inputs. The inverse is also true. If you're playing a game at a thousand FPS, or something absurd, you'll see a lot more precision and responsiveness, even if your monitor doesn't display it, even if your eyes can't see that fast of a refresh rate, you'll still *feel* the difference in precision, crispness, and accuracy of your inputs. Take it from me, a game developer. More frames matters more than you think.

Maps should be made such that even the hardest map to run is only marginally more difficult to run than the most asset heavy vanilla map.. so that you can't make maps that only run on OP systems In BeamNG drive, you can download mod maps that are 2-3 times heavier to run than vanilla maps and I think that's unacceptable.
