These parents are being misleading. They weren’t even in the air! As far as the attendants know, he was ill before takeoff and that’s all they need to know. The flight was perfectly reasonable to ask him to leave as to not risk possibly infecting other passengers. No one gets removed for being air sick.

Ok, I thought this was just motion sickness, but clearly it was not, he was unwell before flight. I think it’s fair enough that he wasn’t allowed to fly, could of been contagious.

@KEIRA FISHER Couldn't he take Dramamine or something else that helps with motion sickness? I know some people can't take it, but that's not the only thing out there. It's unfortunate, but the airline seems to have made their decision based on the information they had. I'm sorry this happened. I just wonder if it could have been prevented.

@KEIRA FISHER I see. I really am sorry that happened. My brother used to have to take Dramamine every time we got in the car, and I occasionally had my own bouts of motion sickness. We more or less learned to prepare for it, but it sucks.

Thing is, he could have had a stomach virus and they can spread quite rapidly on a plane. I wouldn’t want to travel next to someone who is vomiting. I wouldn’t want my child to suffer like that on a flight either.

Sounds familiar. A couple of years ago I was flying out of the airport in Sanford, Florida. A family with two young children were behind me in the TSA security line. The older boy told his mom he didn’t feel well, said he felt “pukey”... one would assume the parent would take some action here. But the father had his eyes on his phone and the dumbass mother simply gave the boy some peanuts (like that would help anything) and brushed the issue aside 😒 fast forward a few minutes, I happened to look back, and I could immediately see it all over the boys face: bombs away. I step forward just in time before the kid vomited all over the floor. Security personnel ran up, livid, and escorted the entire family out of line. The mother had the audacity to complain that they “might miss the flight”. The security agent told her “you aren’t flying anywhere with a sick child”. And this was before covid. Good on the security agent, get your head out of your ass Mom 😒

Having had someone vomit next to me on a flight…you can take yourself off the plane lol. Even if it is motion sickness, there are OTC meds for that now, and you should know well enough to take them in advance before you get on.

Comments in this thread surprisingly lack compassion. As a parent, yes there are lots of ways to prevent motion sickness on the drive to the airplane-but there are many times they fail, especially for kids highly sensitive to motion sickness. Flying with a toddler is extremely hard work, and the amount of time and prep it takes to get to the airplane and board is not insignificant. I feel for these parents, and would have been very upset had I witnessed this happen to another family on my flight-especially if they had clarified the child got motion-sick on the ride to the airport. Must’ve been horrible for mom to fly on ahead without her child, and dad and son to fly then drive separately afterward… if you don’t have kids, i understand it’s difficult to comprehend why this is so upsetting for a parent. But it truly is.

Everything is always everyone else’s fault… you know your child can get motion-sick… THEY MAKE MEDICINES FOR AT. You don’t even need a prescription. The flight crew didn’t drive you guys to the airport, how are they supposed to know whether or not he’s really just motion-sick? “This is what the bags are there for” no it’s not. Those bags are for someone who’s become I’ll mid-flight.
