I can tell you they are rude people. I was born in Kentucky and my mother married a yankee when I was two and moved to Kenosha where I was raised. I've lived in Milwaukee, Eau Claire and Madison. I'm 51 and moved to Arkansas 5 years ago. So 46 years I was there. I'm 5 foot 5 and never a day in life did I not hear a short joke. Friends, coworkers, anyone. Since I moved to Arkansas I haven't been insulted once in regards to my height.

Are you kidding me, dude ? Kentucky is ten times more closed off, outsider hating, than Wisconsin. Your point of view is not very balanced.

@@danmoritz3319 I'm just stating my experience with Arkansas compared to Wisconsin. We generally have manners here compared to Wisconsin. If someone's fat, we don't say anything. Same thing with height. It's called courtesy.

@@jimmyjacuzzi5424 - i agree Arkansas is better than many imagine, especially the northwestern parts of the state. But Kentucky ? There are parts there not enthusiastic about outsiders, so Wisconsin was probably better than there, economically and educationally. Certain parts of Kentucky are very nice, though, so I'm not knocking the whole state. It just depends exactly where. Just consider in a time when white people are under attack, living in a place with sturdy people, intolerant of diversity BS, such rude, pricky people, towards destructive outsiders can be a good thing.

Hey! I grew up in the Chicago area, but I lived mostly in Wisconsin, from college in Madison, to a decade or so in La Crosse, and now in Milwaukee. I like the wilderness around here, I hated the liberals in Madison who hated my conservative ways, but I never made any friends around the state. You're probably right. I hate the passive aggressive niceness. I'm German, but I live and work mostly with blacks.

During the Covid lock downs, the only part of the city that was lively with house parties and people, even kids, playing in the streets, unmasked was the North side. Everywhere else was like a graveyard filled with miserable ghosts.

I went to Milwaukee in 1980 for a business matter. A group of "foreigners" decided to go to a local bar and the vibe was very..... unwelcoming, not only by the local customers but also by the bar owner. We quickly left and found other things to do. I hate thinking the one encounter is typical of Milwaukee but Aaron seems to reenforce our experience.

For my 51 years I have lived in Wisconsin and have been a member of a Lutheran church (Wisconsin Synod) for most of it. Not one mention about any ban on dancing. My kids went to the attached Lutheran school and they had an annual dance every year. I do agree with the people in the last 10 years of so being A-holes, before that everyone seemed way friendlier.

I know someone from Sheboygan. He hasn't lived there since the 70s, but he goes back almost every year for the Bratwurst Festival. Wisconsin also gave America its two most famous cannibals-Ed Gein and Jeffrey Dahmer (both German names, if you notice). I spent a day in Milwaukee once. I never thought of Milwaukee as a big college town, but I never saw so many frat boy/dude bros in one place in my life. Marquette, BTW, is at least theoretically a Catholic college.

Cappy reminds me of Dave Allen, a very famous and extremely funny comedian over here when he was at the end of his career. His stand up routine was really on point and direct, his look was of a slightly manic old man who had seen it all, the madness and the sham of life and "could not take it any more". His comedy was really funny - and like all comedy - routed in truth.

I grew up in Wis, lived outside the state for many years and have now retired here. Wisconsin people are a bit on the provincial side. It's like a big club. Many people aren't that friendly because the vast majority grew up here, have family and friends here that they have had for years. So they have a whole circle of friends and don't really have time or interest in new people. Plus, they really don't trust many people from I'll.

Hey Cappy, from the one extended summer I worked there (La Crosse - great weather then!), I have to say that WI women are definitely the chestiest - which is appropriate because of the cultural ties to dairy industry. Too bad that those chicks start getting fat once they hit 23.
