Asha was about to sing but king magnifico was trying to kill her but the people are helping her to sing this wish on their glowing hearts and then the star is free and the king magnifico was trapped in the tiny mirror.

I know that some people may not like that they defeated him with the power of song and the power of friendship, but I personally don't mind it and I even like it, it's just a pity that Magnifico is not a real villain, there is no queen as a villain and the very concept of a villain was ruined in this movie

That's pretty obvious he's not dead. Otherwise, his healthbar would have been completely red. His healthbar disappears when he's taken to the dungeon offscreen.
