I just realized too that the lineless art style highlights the vulnerability of the characters in the face of the world’s highest technology and industry of their time being sent to kill them. The line between life and death is invisible. Between existence and the end of everything, indistinguishable. Every time I watch this I pick up on something I didn’t realized previous time. You seriously dropped the hardest piece of WW1 media since All Quiet on the Western Front I cannot stop raving about this

It really captures the shock and horror of young men who were born at the apex of Europes power and prosperity realize that their fate is just going to be mechanically slaughtered for the sake of a couple meters of mud in a foreign field. THIS is what a Fully Animated Fully Shaded Attack looks like. THANK YOU. This is so fun with all the motion and compositions and colors, and just EVERYTHING. So many different SCENES too (literal backgrounds, that is). Wow. Very epic song as well. This is one of the greatest Attacks I've seen ever, and the best of this year, by far.

@@morbidquil I say without exaggeration that this is one of the best depictions of WW1 I’ve ever seen. The part at 0:51 where he reaches for his rifle and realizes his arm isn’t there anymore. At 1:20 when he’s looking at pictures of his dead friends and the camera shows us them all standing behind him. Artists depicting this period have a responsibility to humanity to respectfully depict the deaths of untold millions of young people from all over the world, and you have done so with incredible talent and dignity. I legit choked up half a dozen times
