Chicago's "Wishing You Were Here" has a rare change-up. Terry Kath and Peter Cetera swap their usual instruments, with Terry on bass and Peter on guitar. Producer James William Guercio, also played a guitar on the studio track of this song. Backup vocals were by Cetera and Beach Boys members Al Jardine, Carl Wilson, and Dennis Wilson, who were visiting Guercio's Caribou Ranch where the album was being recorded.
