+gip1279 he still is. i mean, curry is amazing. but jordan is just more complete and fun to watch. i apologize to bring out a guy who just hits his prime in a comparo situation.. lets put it this way, in terms of 3 pt shooting, for sure curry is superior. but when it comes to finishing around the basket, even though curry is no sloth, jordan from 84-93 were FAR superior, not to mention much more acrobatic and creative in the air, stuff that curry, even lebron or kobe ( these so called athletic freaks) will never be able to do. it is easy to forget something happened in the past and feel strongly about what is happening now. but by watching jordan's game archive on here ( not just the highlight), the superior presence of jordan is still holding up after all these years.

Any one that truly knows basketball, knows Michael Jordan is the best player to have ever played in the NBA. His quickness(quickest first step in the game)and speed matched anybody in the league before or after, and that incredible athletic body in a 6 ft 6 frame made him unguardable, and lets not forget his leaps(48 inch vertical) were unmatched by anyone, an extraordinary ability to hang and create with left or right, and most people forget his fundamentals were stellar, he had a skill/talent set that we have not seen in any other player, and a ferocious competitive will to win few could match if any. And he dominated on defense and offense, he played sick, injured and his longevity at the highest level was umatchable. And let us not forget his Basketball Intelligence which ranks genius. Isiah Thomas said of Jordan that he had access to a reserve of energy that elevated him to a higher gear, above the rest. We will never see this type of excellence again. Lebron and Kobe(RIP Black Mamba, He was closest to Jordan"s level of GREATNESS) shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence. Michael Air Jordan, the best there ever was and the best there ever will be, love him or hate him, he dominated this game. Happy Birthday MJ, thanks for the memories, 23 The Goat! Larry Bird called Jordan the "Black Jesus", Lol, because after playing against Jordan, Bird said "I just played against God!". Nobody wanted to win more than Michael, that made him fearless.

@boogieloo18317 жыл бұрын
Zirconium Arthiritis - so true. It's in large part because of his huge hands. Check out his dunks - he almost never cups the ball. He grips it in one hand which is why going up without a running start is so easy for him. There were so many dunks where he literally moves the ball in one hand around the arms of a shot blocker and into the basket.

The complete package of athletic gifts. Incredible "turn on" starting power (first step). Incredible ability to stop on a dime and either elevate or change direction. Outstanding one and two foot jumping ability. Incredible lateral quickness. Incredible body control in all planes. Outstanding pure speed. Freakish length (arms and hands), outstanding Relative strength (he was only a 198 lb in the 80s, 212 lb - 218 lb as he got older). Freakish vision according to Bill Simmons (read that story if you can). His flexibility looked to be good although Tim Grover once said MJ's flexibility when he first came into the league was subpar... Possibly the greatest endurance athlete in NBA history, especially when you consider how much of a "fast twitch" specimen he was. Incredible durability. A broken foot was his only prolonged DL injury in his entire career. On top of all of this, he just had a cooler looking body that moved a lot cooler than everyone else. No one since has had all of these gifts in a single package. No, not Lebron, not Kobe, not Westbrook. I like all of them but none of them had this combination of gifts. I wasn't born when Wilt was around so I can't comment there. On top of all these physical gifts, we're talking about the most mentally tough competitor in the history of sports. Lightning quick mental processing, incredible discipline and work ethic. Zone like focus at all times. Arguably the most clutch basketball player ever. A will to win so strong he literally hand mind control over his teammates and opponents (and coaches and refs lol). This guy is an all around human freak like very few others in the history of this planet. Don't expect another one for a VERY long time. If ever.

He gave his life to basketball as an expression of gratitude for the gifts he has been bestowed with. What's crazy is Jordan would have been even better if Detroit hadn't beat the snot out of him in the playoffs for three years and forced him to bulk up. He still had the hops and quickness in '98 at age 35, but not for a whole game. Derrick McKey of Indiana guarded him pretty well in the East finals in '98. Jordan couldn't get around him or shoot over him. Went to 7 games. Indiana had a team, man. Jordan needed a lot of help. And a lot of points on free throws. That's all people see in this generation when they watch Jordan. They forget the ridiculous stuff he did all game every game until his first retirement. I think he would've been better those last 2 years with the Bulls if he could've played lighter. But Detroit was beating him up in the playoffs in '88-'90, and he had to get stronger. So blessed to be born in Downers Grove, Illinois in 1982. We got cable just so we could watch Jordan every night. What's crazy is that the Bulls still had to be on cable in Chicago most nights. Sports Channel, channel 34 back in the day. I spent my childhood in Berwyn and Lockport. I mean, I have cerebral palsy, I'll never be like Mike, but that's OK, neither will anyone else. Only Bulls game I ever went to in person was their last home game in '96 against Indiana. Phil rested Michael and Scottie a lot, and the Bulls lost by 1 point. I cried. 10 losses all year, and they had to lose the one I was at. Then I had to move to Indiana. Needless to say, I didn't fit in well there. Hardly ever saw the Bulls those last 2 years. Jordan was all post moves, fadeaway jumpers and free throws by then. This generation actually thinks that's all Jordan had. Nonsense.

I followed this guy since I was 12. That was 1982, the year he hit the shot to beat Georgetown for the NCAA trophy with the Heels. I became obsessed then. Collecting anything with him on it and I'm a huge Tarheel fan. By 1985 we had a VCR in our home. It would record, so I started recording all of his games I could get on the big networks. And then after we got cable, I started recording all the Bulls games out of Chicago. So since I'm older....not only have I seen most of these but I recorded around 90% of the Bulls games. All the way from his Tarheel days to his final retirement as a Wizard. It's great to see this though as most of the moves on this video were only seen once....while I was recording. Yes, that many hundreds of VHS tapes with an average of 3 games per tape. Some years ago though, right before I divorced, I felt pressured to sell my enormous MJ collection in order to help save the marriage. So, like an idiot I did. Including the tapes. (Keeping a few very choice MJ items for myself). Yeah I know. That sux. Good news is the guy that bought the stuff, transferred the games digitally to preserve them. As well both UNC and WGN in Chicago have a complete library of all the games through his college and pro careers. So, nothing is really lost. and let me say this on a side note. You younger guys watching this and realizing the truth that LeBron and Curry can't hold a candle to this guy??.....YEAH that's the straight up truth. NOT EVEN CLOSE! The only reason LeBron has people snowed into thinking he's the GOAT, is because of the large age gap between then and now. The kids have no one like this to compare LeBron too. Generation gap has caused this odd ignorance but I get that it's not the kids fault. It's up to us to sit them down and say "Let me tell you a story about a man named Michael Jordan". ~Peace Jeff

First time seeing this video. What stands out to me is just how athletic Jordan was. He had Russell Westbrook burst and speed but with more size. He's still be one of the best leapers in the NBA even today. People tend to remember Jordan more during the second three peat. However by that time, he had lost a step or two. He was still great then, but his true peak was 1991-1993. No one would be able to come close to guarding him in today's game. And I don't say that lightly. I believe players and basketball in general is much better today than it was at any other time. Jordan was just an all-day around athletic beast. I think if you transported young Jordan to the modem NBA, he would have developed a serviceable three point shot. Then, he would be completely unguardable.

As a true Bulls fans who still lives an hour away from Chicago, I gotta say thank you. Great compilation. No other b.s. involved in the video. Commentary louder than music. Not shit rap music. And ONLY great plays, nothing else. 👍

There is so much traffic in the paint. I cringe at what he would be able to do today.

Can we say 40ppg shooting anywhere between 45-50% from the floor

jairo tovah - I think even more than 40 points a game simply because of today's ridiculous standards for what constitutes a foul. He would be unstoppable going to the basket with today's red carpets to the rim and he'd get to the line 15 times a game. If Harden can average 11 free throws a game, MJ would average at least 15 free throws a game. Definitely he would average more than 40 a game.

@@boogieloo1831 If the guy could average 37 points in the hell 80s. Yeah..I don't see why he wouldn't average 45 in this pussy ass era.

Nobody has ever come close to this guy. His quickness, power, and finesse were uncomparable. I get to watch Curry on a nightly basis and Steph is exciting as they get - but Jordan was dominant in all phases of the game - mental and physical. I miss watching him.

So true. It irritates me when people say Kobe was the closest to him. First of all they say it because he patterned his game after him so he reminds them of him and second Kobe was a great player but he was very clearly not on Michael’s level.

So beautiful to watch. He is simply the Goat

I love how MJ let his skills, dunks, crazy layups spoke for his game. He didn't need to flex and scream after every single play like now-a-days players - LeBron, Westbrook, etc., etc.

salman sufi mj talked way more trash than LeBron & Russ, Hell more than half the league combined. They don't even talk trash for the most part nowadays, it's a tech now I believe.
