The funny thing is that the spotted creature is already extinct, so, again, as he did in the beginning of the game, in white orchard, gaunter sort of helps Geralt progress on his missions. Call me crazy, but I think gaunter creates the problems so he can grab the souls of those who try to solve them. It makes sense when we remember that he is able to manipulate time at will. He theoretically could go back and forth time to create the solutions for a problem, then create the problem itself.

@drnobody19083 жыл бұрын
The act of breaking a wooden spoon is actually a way to curse someone. One it must be wooden. Two it must have been used the spoon in a meal that they ate, ether in preparing the meal or used in consuming it. This curse can only be evoked if you are a guest in the target's home and they have denied you hospitality three times. Once by refusing you shelter, second by refusing you food, third by refusing your kindness. These are the three rules of hospitality. The first two are subjected by circumstance because if they grant you sanctuary for a moment like willing to let you stay under their porch roof for a few seconds to get out of the rain it counts as sanctuary. As for the second you must ask for food and they must refuse for it to count. The third however is universal as refusing the kindness of a guest is well not circumstantial. Remember all three must be refused to work unless the target of the curse is yourself. Three, sware upon the spoon like so "I sware upon this broken spoon that- (fill in the black with three curses) so it shall be." The three curses must share repetition of intent such as "None will (blank), none will (blank), none will (blank)" Or "That you shall never (blank), That you shall never (blank), That you shall never (blank)." As an example, then fill the blanks in with what you wish upon the afflicted. In the end it should sound like this. "I sware upon this broken spoon, your heart be rotten, your visage be foul, your loins be fruitless, so it shall be." This is an example it could be slightly off but its the jest of what it is. This was an old curse to remind the rich and wealthy to be polite. Its reversible in two ways, one they must give their most precious possession to the caster, two they show the three rules of hospitality to someone in need who they never met and it must be genuine.

As players, I think we got used to playing characters that are the “Chosen Ones” of their worlds (Skyrim, Dragon Age, Mass effect, Fable, etc.) We’re used to the world revolving around us, and our choices. We feel as though we are at the top of the food chain (or maybe importance chain?). So when a character like O’Dimm appears, it gives you a huge slap in the face - even for all your greatness, when compared to someone as O’Dimm, you are as insignificant as an ant. Humans are always fascinated by the unknown. Which is why characters like O’Dimm or the G-Man from Half-life are so intriguing to theorize about.

Then throw me this bone: Gaunter O'Dimm got a destructive storm running without sorcery. Just. Like. That. He can make it, that time seemingly stops. He basically inserts himself multiple times in the story of his little champion trying to fulfill the contract. 1st: Where does this power come from? Not from sorcery or any magic, he detests that stuff. The christian devel has never been shown to be able to change the weather for one. And before you claim that thing was on it's way, it wasn't. Any boatsman with even the smallest commonsense would have rather tried his luck with the ofiery swords than a storm that's that close. Plus, once Geralt wakes up, that thing is looong gone. And I doubt he had been out cold for hours. 2nd All that is easily more power than just destroying an immortal. After all, Gaunter _could_ literally take him apart and spread the corpse pieces out. But he wants the soul. He is also eternal. Completely. He makes himself look humble. Since when do devils hide behind humble facades? Did you know that he is the one that made the boclair noble become a monster (edit: Off course you know. After all, you watched this video. Silly me. Forgets where we are)? He posed himself as a beggar and upon being rejected he cursed her. Pulled a real beaty and the beast on her _without_ the question, wether it was justifyable to curse a probably ten year old. All in all, if not god, then close enough for me. But surely no devil. After all, he gives you _exactly_ what you want. Like a djinn and claims your soul like a devil AND has the power of a god. Every higher bad thing amalgamated into one.

"Any god worth your worship should be" And why is that? "The concept of God, as described by theologians, commonly includes" COMMONLY is the keyword. It's not "always". Gods being man made they always wants their god to be as strong as possible and what is the strongest? Omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscience. They would claim their god was stronger than that if they could. There's more non omni gods than omni gods. For example the indian gods, mayan gods, egyptian gods, greek goods, roman gods, nordic gods etc. All those omni gods are outnumbered by non omni gods. "The God of the old testament describes in job 38-41 how big his dick is. (It's Yuge)" I wish I could give ur comment 10 thumbs up or 100 simply for this :D

Oi! Before any of you say anything about gods: Look at kami. They are gods. They are sometimes closer to sorcerers in witcher than to "The Lord" or even the greek/roman ones! Plus, I still don't see how Gaunter is not omnipotent. I play witcher sometimes without real armour on and sometimes fighting skull bosses. Because I get a kick out of it. I've seen a rather crappy anime, that had a quite interesting concept: 1) magical creatures gain power from people believing in their powers 2) In order to pull off a particularly strong spell, you need to make a sacrifice or if you can't you need to make it a gamble putting yourself at risk. Regarding Gaunther, I doubt that he would put limitations onto himself, if he didn't had to. It must be vanity or greed for souls that makes him accept contracts that he might fail to keep. Maybe, his power grows with his legend and with every gamble he wins (which in turn creates the illusion of omnipotence and strengthens his legend). Maybe, he can only see probabilities. When he created the spotted wight, he might have split the world into two parallel universes. One in which Gerald takes advantage of it and one where he doesn't, making it a 50:50 gamble to Gaunther. Maybe, there was an 80% chance that Gerald survives the Shipwreck (he was far from the only survivor BTW) and Gaunther had also a plan B, if he doesn't survive it, or perhaps he would have intervened a second time. I like that he was portrayed as neither good nor overly evil. However, if he was interested in making as many contracts as possible, wouldn't he want to appear more like a nice god and advertise himself a bit more? Thus, I think it's not primarily about souls, but his own pride or growth of might.

Just pointing out, spoon with Gaunter seems to have quite a few connections. The spoon that Gaunter broke that initiated everything on the ship, the spoon that Gaunter drove through the peasant and lastly the numerous amount of spoons within the Wight lair. Spoons are also known to be shiny and reflective which reflect whatever that you put in front of it. So I guess there's a connection between all these things? Both time spoons that Gaunter broke and used to kill were wooden spoons too, so perhaps he's not so fond of wooden spoons as it does not reflect and serve what he does "master of mirrors".

Wow yeah, great video. I also couldn’t help think a ‘heart of stone’ led to the loss of everything for her. She was very beautiful, wealthy and clearly had enough food to give but was short on character, love and compassion. She chased off a beggar over some fear or desire. He broke a spoon (wondering what that symbolizes) and became cursed, confused, her image changing and her hunger increasing to the point she ended up lonely, unable to even see herself, with nothing left to satisfy her. In all her desire and effort she gained nothing except a great collection of spoons to remind her of the hopelessness of it all. It’s not until she meets a kind stranger that attempts to hear her, sits with her, feeding on more than food that she is forced to confront her image and flee from the creature in the mirror.

O’Dimm, much like Randall Flagg from The Stand by Stephen King, has the supposed ability to travel between dimensions. So it’s possible that he picked up that language from Eastern Iran from actually visiting our world thousands of years ago. Also, could this possibly indicate that Flagg and O’Dimm are perhaps the same incarnation of one another? After all, Flagg goes by many names: The Man in Black, Walter Paddick, Walter O’Dimm, the Ageless Stranger, etc. He’s also appeared in other realms within the Dark Tower series, such as a wizard in King’s Eyes of the Dragon bent on sending the fantasy kingdom of Delain into chaos. So, all this considered, it is a possibility that they’re one of the same.

Small theory. What if O'dimm did this for Geralt. Think about, all the wights are dead and there's no way to continue but we all know O'dimm has helped Geralt before, once for free and the other a deal. So what if O'dimm planned this as a reward for beating him or simply for dealing with the wight one way or another. But that's only a theory, a GAME THEORY!

After playing the game so much I have a theory. I think O’Dimm did curse this women on purpose so Geralt and Regis can make the potion to summon Dettlaff. Because it appears the Spotted Wight are no longer around at the time, so O’Dimm made it possible for Geralt to make the potion to continue his journey otherwise it would have been impossible (not entirely). Olgierd could have accepted his deserved punishment for all the selfish decisions he took im his bid for immorality. He CHOSE to sacrifice Vlodimir. Olgierd deserves little pitty and it's honestly just as morally correct to let O'Dim deliver his punishment as it is not. @@sidetracker3496 Ok then what of skellige? I mean, those people lived for pillaging so shouldn't they suffer the same fate as olgierd? Hell, what of Witchers even? some monsters dont kill without provocation yet witchers often kill them anyway for a bag of coin. Olgierd does not mention how many he killed, if he killed children, let people live, etc. all we know is that he led a band of rogues. noble-born rogues at that. He even says that he regrets turning the prince into a frog when you talk to him meaning that he isn't some sociopath that doesnt feel until O'dimm gave him a heart of stone. Thank you. I feel the same way. These people weren't "good" people. Olgeird had to have known what he was signing up for, since he was using "black magic". He chose that path. It didn't sound like he had a very good heart before O'Dimm gave him a "heart of stone". The spotted wight was being cruel and selfish on top of going against what was supposed to be a traditional custom when a traveler comes to your home. I mean, damn, all she had to do was give him some food. But she denied him and then rubbed salt in the wound by belittling him. Olgeird and the old woman kinda deserved it.

@@trisryan4161 let me get things straight here.. if you're a son to a weapons dealer, ate food from that "blood" money, go to college with "that" money, and get married mostly by "that" money. Then someday, a son of the father whose been murdered by the weapon get revenge on you and killed your newborn baby and you'll say...."FATHER! THIS IS YOUR DOING!" and you apologize to that man who killed your baby and shake his hand on behalf of your father? Or you just simply killed that man? You have a long and twisted logic man, even Olgierd never mess with eredin even if he could. Why? Well, someday you'll get the picture. And for that drunkard on the inkeep on oxenfurt who got killed by the spoon was enough to make a conclusion that O'Dimm is nothing but evil? You mean that CDPR must give a detailed background story for every one that O'Dimm deal with? Then this wouldn't be The Witcher 3, but The Mirror 3. And maybe Olgierd has the hearts of stone, but his logic still clear as a fresh everluce. Your point only based on Olgierd being sorry for the frog prince? But you neglected the fact that he also told geralt that he asked for help from "the wrong kind of man", and what did you think about a man whose looking for solution for his problems in a bar to drink and brawl on and on and on again? Sociopath? Aaaahhh, not quite....but he's getting there and got the hearts of stone side effect (let me make things clear once more, SIDE EFFECT). This is a simple logic, if you're good people then you asked for solutions from another good people. People always want to lean on Gaunter O'Dimm being either God or the devil but I think people forget that the Witcher world is polytheistic. In polytheistic religions, being a God doesn't mean you are like the Christian God. All knowing, all powerful, all loving, and blah blah blah. Look at other polytheistic religions in the real world. They aren't some perfectly good being. They have traits that could be considered good and some that are considered evil, but they are still called a God. That's what I think Gaunter O'Dimm is. He's A God not THE God.

First, Depending on your race and what you did in life, you may enter a different after life, be it sovngarde, or the hunting grounds of hircine, or other deities and daedras. Second, you could have your soul trapped in a Gem and stuck in there, and those trapped by black soul gems go to Soul Cairn. Third, when your soul is destroyed you cease to exist, like when the Dragonborn devour the Soul of the Dragons he kills, the dragons ceases from existence to never come back.
