Almost all the games I play, I imagine, takes place in same universe, just sometimes in other worlds. You know, multi-universe theory. I imagine in our Earth there are different levels of existence. And Witcher 3, Shadow of Mordor, Dragon Age take place in same world, but other then ours. That world co-exists with ours. So when I play Mafia III I imagine that Lincoln, living fast pace live has no idea that at the same tame, may be in the same place, just in other plain, exists magical world where dragons, witches, spirits and golems are mundane. I only have problem with postapcalyptic games. I imagine them just as separate stories because I don`t like to put this kind of vast events in a future. That would destroy cultural heritage and all we know. And making other futures would be to go too far from who we are now.

The reason that Wild Hunt are using the Silver sword is because they are often fought right next to their Wild Hunt hounds which HAVE to be monsters for Silver. So CDPR decided to make them both use Silver in order not to make the player switch 10 times a battle. No other reason really.

that honestly is probably the main reason but lore wise it doesnt technically make sense. That is, if they're not actually wraiths it wouldnt make sense to use silver. Also, the silver sword is kind of your primary weapon and the steel is kind of secondary. The silver sword always has more damage so considering that and in combination with the fact that the Hunt uses monsters to fight with them, only makes sense the CDPR decided to say fuck it and go silver for the Hunt.

Lorewise Silver is only used for supernatural beings, Ghouls, Nekkers, Wywerns, Griffin's and many others are beasts, this is also why the first showcase of witcher 3 Geralt used his Steel sword against it- he then looses it. But some choices are made to not make the combat seem abit silly to the player.

Also in the dialouges they use old polish language. That's why I can't imagine playing the Witcher in english, I think it's not that magical as the original one.

They aren't necessarily over. Geralt's story is done, and that could very well mean the end for the Witcher, but we could see a reboot of sorts to the series down the road - ie, a Witcher game with young Vesemir or Ciri as the protagonist. It's certainly not coming for quite some time (with Cyberpunk 2077 and another AAA game CDPR hasn't announced yet in the works atm), but after those two games are out, you never know!

I think the reason silver works best against members of the Wild Hunt, is that they are from another world and thus supernatural in nature. Where as steel seems to be most effective against things naturally of the world. Keep in mind that this is just my theory.

The way I think Bethesda beats the Witcher 3 with TES 6 is by looking back to the success of Morrowind and the Shivering Isles. Those are the best pieces of content Bethesda has made (although Skyrim is really quite good too, imo). Combine this with a unique setting - like Valenwood, Summerset, or Elsweyr, and you've got a game with a lot of potential!

There are few mistakes in this video. First of all: there are 7 main books - two anthologies of short stories (The Last Wish, Sword of Destiny) and five novels of the saga (Blood of Elves, Time of Contempt. Baptism of Fire, Tower of the Swallow, Lady of the Lake). Unfortunately English publisher initially skipped Sword of Destiny, which has very important stories about Ciri. Second anthology was released just after release of TW3. In comparison The Last Wish was published in 2007 and Blood of Elves one year later. There's also sidequel novel called Season of Storms, which was released by Supernowa Publishing & Sapkowski just 18 months before premiere of TW3. 5:39 Bad pronounciation: correct one (for non-Polish speaker) is something like MA-tchey kvyat-KOV-ski (CAPS=stressed syllable). Remember W in Polish is always pronounced like V in English (V and W are pronounced in the same way in Polish). Anyway Maciej was hired by CD Projekt RED in 2007 for the first time. He also works often for Platige Image, film/animation/CGI company who makes one of the best game trailers in the biz. They made almost all TW trailers and Cyberpunk one. Other mistakes were pointed out earlier, so I won't repeat them.

One million lines of code sounds surprisingly little, actually. I once wrote a chess engine (+ visual interface) that ended up being something like 20k lines of code, but that was just me on my spare time for a much shorter period of time. Of course, less code can sometimes mean more effort, as you strip away all redundant code, but that can only go so far, and Witcher is such a massive and rich game. Gwent in three days (interface and everything?) is very impressive, I suspect that it was the code foundation that was developed, and not the final and polished product, and that the rules were developed beforehand (balancing etc takes time).

The Law of Surprise works only when there is a promise of giving someone you are indebted to anything. Anything at all, and only after that can the other person ask those questions, "give me what you already have but do not know," or something along those lines. And the Law of Surprise works only when the person who promised consents to give the other person their "destiny". It's rather complicated. And also, "something more is needed", as anyone who has read the books must know. *Read on if you do not plan to read the books. Spoilers ahead:* The destiny between Ciri and Geralt did not fulfill because it wasn't enough. Destiny alone is not enough, as we even see in the books two times. When Ciri is 6 years old, Geralt goes to Cintra to nullify Duny's promise to Geralt regarding Ciri. He tells Calanthe the same 'destiny is not enough' deal. He leaves. Later, Geralt gets heavily injured while protecting a small merchant called Yurga. Yurga promises Geralt anything Geralt wished for. Geralt asks the same 'give me something you already have. . .' deal and Yurga consents. Geralt, being injured, is resting. He dreams about this meeting Yennefer. These incidents had already happened and the writer makes Geralt dreams them again just for the purpose of telling the story. Yen asked Geralt to go to Cintra and accept Ciri. In another dream he sees himself meeting Dandilion on his way to Cintra to pick Ciri up and he is informed that Cintra was attacked by Nilfgaardians. nobody survived. Geralt aborts the plan. Yurga takes Geralt temporarily into his care for saving his life. They discover that Yurga's wife had taken in a Girl. It turns out that Ciri escaped from Cintra and ended up in Yurga's house. And so, destiny had to be fulfilled twice for it to be truly enough. *About Yennefer:* Geralt meets a djinn and has three promises. Yen decided to capture said djinn because it would make her many times more powerful. She isn't able to because she thinks the 3 wishes have already been wished, but they aren't. Geralt reaches Yen and tells her that his last wish is left. Yen doesn't really know Geralt and thinks he might want money or fame, etc. He wishes his life to be bound to her. They live together happily ever after for like an year and then quarrel and split up for the time being and let each other cool off for a moment. Later they meet again and patch up. They go hunting for a dragon in the same party without previous knowledge of the other's participation. Can't get the dragon but the damn dragon is wise and tells them that they are perfect for each other. They were Destined for each other. Geralt and Yen have a moment together. Then separate again. Remember when Geralt once meets Yen and she tells him to go get Ciri? She also tells him that they can't patch up again. They would only hurt each other. That even though they were Destined for each other, Destiny is not enough (I'm tired of writing that again and again). Can you guess what that some else needed to fulfill the destiny between Geralt and Yen is? Ciri. Man these books are so well written. Now don't go ahead and criticise this just because you have read the books and think I might have missed something. This post was meant for people who aren't familiar with the Witcher lore. I just wanted to ramble a bit and go into the details.

The law of surprise works somewhat differently than you said, at least in the books. If anyone saves someone's life or offers help in a seemingly hopeless situation, and the person being saved offers "anything you want" as a reward (of his own free will - the offer even has to be repeated, so it can't be a slip of the tongue) the saviour can invoke the law of surprise. If it turns out to be a child, potentially a bond of destiny is formed, which is some very strong hocus pocus. But, if the bond of destiny has to be valid, the person (unexpected child) actually has to agree (again, of his or her own free will) to leave his or her family and go with the one who invoked the law. Interestingly, Geralt actually "got" Ciri that way twice. And the first time he came to Cintra, he neither met nor actually wanted her, because he didn't believe in destiny.

They have the ability to traverse the entirety of the Witcher Multiverse, but they use this power to observe less advanced species. They dislike the Aen Elle because they used the unicorns to traverse different worlds to murder humans. They are led by the council of elders. Which is also rumored to be the source of the original elder blood. Which also explains Ciri's ability to travel across universes. Since, the Hunt cannot beat the unicorns as they are stronger. They are after Ciri for the same power. Yes, they look exactly like Unicorns in normal human myths and talk through telepathy.

I may or may not be right about Fact 9 but from what I´ve got from Ciri´s wiki page is that Avallac´h said she had to "repay the debt" as he put it and thus wanted her to beget a child with Auberon who refused because he was disgusted by her human form.

About Ciris gift: Lara Dorren and the elder blood was an outcome of genetic experiments. The experiment was conducted by Avallac. When Lara Dorren fell in love with a human and got pregnant and then murdered. The elves were pissed because they lost control over their experiment. The elder blood was needed to travel the worlds as the red riders only cloud travel some of the worlds and only in a certian direction, someone with the elder blood can travel where and whenever they want.

Ugh that is a tough question. I feel like they went out of their way to paint Yen as a bit of a bitch in the Witcher 3, just to make Triss seem like more of an option. In the Witcher books, Geralt and Yen is clearly the "canon" pairing. But not so in the game. I suppose I prefer Geralt with Yen, just because it makes so much sense, given the events of the books, the fact that she is a mother figure to Ciri and Geralt is a father figure, etc. But as for who I like more as a character, well probably Triss. It's a tough choice!

First the short stories collection ("The Last Wish" and than "Sword of Destiny" in contrary to publishment order, but right chronologically) Than the saga itself in this order: Blood of Elves Time of Contempt Baptism of Fire The Tower of the Swallow Lady of the Lake And at last the prequel: Season of Storms I must say that the books are realy good

Well, not exactly. It's set in between some of the stories in the first collection ("The Last Wish") But I will strongly recommend to read it at last. It build on the knowledge and familiarity of the previous books.

Yeah, it kinda does, but to be fair, there are some contradictions between the books and games. For example, it didn't really make much sense for Avallac'h to suddenly turn "good" like he did. There are a number of other thigns as well, but I'm not the most well versed on the books and am still working my way through them atm, so I'm probably not the best person to ask :P

Avallac'h wasn't 'good' In either the books or the games. He may have been against the rest of the Aen Elle, but he always had his own agenda. He helped Geralt and Ciri in the books, but not out of the kindness of his heart. Likewise he helped Geralt and Ciri in the games, but not out of the kindness of his heart. He wanted to stop the White Frost, which would have come for all worlds eventually, including his own. He actually views Ciri with contempt because she is a reminder that Lara Doren, who he loved, loved a Human instead.
