I don't understand why, but Ciri is my favorite literary character ever. There is something very special about how she was written. Part Superman, part Shakespearean tragedy, part Greek Mythological - all in one. She's so interesting and you grow to care so much for her - much like her "parents" do. Thanks for this! Appreciated.

Just discovered this video. Completed witcher 3 about a year ago, and of course, now Netflix's season 2, out now. This is a great companion to both. Sometimes hard to follow the overarching story in the witcher storyline, this video does a great job of telling ciri's overall storyline. Thanks so much!

@@rosetan3274 What do you mean by Geralt's "real partner"? Geralt loves Yennefer and Ciri is like a daughter to both of them. The original commenter said he finished the game Witcher 3 (which is based on books but happens later on in the timeline). Netflix series has only 2 seasons as of now and it's adapting books (but it's not really a good adaptation so I really recommend you the books)

I'd been stuck on writing my books for like, five years, because I couldn't figure out how to make my character work as part of a guild in a larger world. It wasn't until I played The Witcher 3 and started making sense of the lore and world that it finally clicked, much of which owes to your videos and understanding. "You mistook the stars reflected in a pond at night for those in the sky." Is a quote Vilgefortz said in the books, so I dont really think its something you can hypothesize on, its pretty canon that it was Vilgefortz. It is the only identifier in the vision, and also, Vilgefortz was also on Sodden Hill, which the vision showed. How would any other faction know about that?

As I say in the video, yes I can absolutely hypothesize on that. It's not an uncommon saying. It also definitely isn't canon that it was Vilgefortz, nowhere is the identity confirmed at all. Again, as said in the video, if it was Avallac'h (or Auberon) they would have easily been able to keep up with the world's affairs.

A thought to consider: the visions Auberon shows Ciri may very well be true. Time moves differently between worlds and in the world of the Aen Elle, meaning that a lot of time passes on the Continent, while only weeks pass in their world. Therefore, unless one is a "special individual with special powers" (e.g. Avallac'h, Ciri, Eredin & WH), they are unable to cross the boundary of time without reprecussions. In other words, the visions could have been true at the moment when shown to Ciri, because in that possible reality, she had not yet escaped. And if she did not escape then things would go as they would go (nobody to show Geralt out of the snowstorm, Yen killed, etc.).

The Auberon's vision is real, at least in its potential of happening. It's similar to the vision Frodo has in Lothlórien, there's a highly probable future shown in case he'd fail in his task. As far as I see it, Auberon has an insight into multiple probability lines.

As far as the books go it's entirely up to the reader to decide that. I personally interpreted it as Geralt and Yennefer going to their version of Avalon as "Avallac'h" is pretty close to that name not to mention that mist and the boat correlates quite directly too. Avalon in the Arthurian saga is where Arthur recovered from grave wounds so in that sense, they just went away to heal after being revived by the power of the unicorn, channeled through Ciri.
