You must know, my dear ladies, that traditional gingerbread is not your ordinary baked good. It's a culinary phenomenon. A legend. A dark and obscure object of the deepest desire.
Time gives the proper consistency. Time provides that ideal crunch on the outside, the delicious moistness within.
My Witcher lore videos are not meant to replace playing the game series or reading the books. Seriously, the novels are really good and I couldn't possibly convey every detail by just telling you about the events and characters. Go read the books, play the games, then come back to tell me how awesome the Witcher series is.

I absolutely love O'dimms character. Most game villains are so die hard, attacking you at anz chance they get. O'dimm is everything but that. He speaks calmly, never attacks you... Hes the calmest, but most terrifying videogame villain ever.

He gives you an idea of where yen might be. And we find her because of o'dimm. Gaunter is just interested in geralt, because odimm can see through geralt that he is a good person. He didnt made a pact with geralt because he adored him. Gaunter makes a pact with everyone, but for geralt he made it into a favor for a favor. I think odimm is not evil. He is just granting everyones wishes, nothing more, nothing less..

I loved how they left his exact nature mostly to the background until the end of the game you challenge him to where he speaks in an unknown language and shows what is presumably his actual face. The subtly is refreshing. And the scene where he wantonly freezes Time itself is probably next to Death from Supernatural in the “establishing how powerful the entity you’re dealing with is”. He was also a cheeky and arrogant ponce, and finally figuring out the puzzle to his game is satisfying.

ok i know this is a bit late but i found out another odimm connection in witcher 3, when you play the quest "a knight's tale" you are suppose to go to a witch's hut to remove the curse. now when you do go there you can hear the same music that is played when you play the wight's quest ( who was cursed by master mirror). another clue you will see is, there is a broken mirror inside her hut. and to back it up even further, in hearts of stone , that blind dude told geralt that olgierd came to know about master mirror from a witch. hope you read this :), and include it too in your video

I love how everyones brings up the Gaunter O'Dimm can be an acronym for God (obviously), but no one brings up another (albeit funnier to me at least) acronym that can be made from one of his titles; Master of Mirrors or Mom. Stupid, but I find it funny that he can be seen around in cutscenes watching Geralt and then you have the old saying that mothers have eyes in the back of their heads so they always know what their kids are doing. Like I said it is stupid and makes no sense, just something that came to me one day when I played and kinda gave me a funny outlook on him.

My own theory which I devised just for fun as I was playing Hearts of Stone is that O'Dimm may be an inhabitant of a higher plane of existence, in the same way that our own world is a higher plane compared to the game world of The Witcher 3, and, in that sense, Gaunter could be considered a "Witcher player", of sorts - indeed, sometimes I couldn't help but think that he behaves like a guy playing a video game. Remember his first dialogue with Geralt - he talked to him like I would, basically: "Hey Geralt, I know so much about you and your adventures! One thing's been bothering me though, is there really true love between you and Yen, or is it just a djinn spell? Oh and by the way, your next quest mark is over there". Immediately I thought that he visited this world to play, to have fun, to mingle with its characters, to see fascinating events play out. Like us, he doesn't care about in-game money, wealth and political power, all that he cares about are characters, their stories, motivations and such. Like a true Witcher fan, he knows everything about everyone, he knows their past and their future(probably cause it's not his first playthrough I thought). He is careless, playful and - oh yes - heartless to other characters, but the same could really be said about any player who sometimes does all kinds of nasty stuff, especially when bored. Finally, he can manipulate time and space, can spawn items with some crazy properties, and can even change other character's states, like making them immortal, or turning them into something else. His own demeanor signifies that he doesn't worry about being killed - the worst that might happen is that he loses some challenge and quits - for a time. And - like so many of us would! - he gently pushes Geralt towards the sex scene with Shani! Coincidence? I don't think so:)

What I loved about the O'Dimm/Olgierd story, and ultimately why I made the decisions I did was that O'Dimm was the worst kind of evil. He cloaked himself in morality, in honesty but he perverted it. Olgierd was by no means a righteous, or even a good man. He was a rogue, a bandit whose action brought down his brother and the woman he loved. He was responsible for the deaths of who knows how many others. But even with all of that Olgierd was capable of redemption, to show remorse and make amends. Even though O'Dimm never lied, technically, and never cheated he was a plague. Even if he only took the souls of despicable people no one deserves that fate. That's ultimately why I had Geralt challenge and defeat him. O'Dimm was terrifying. The greatest of evils because he carried himself with honor. And I loved O'Dimm as a villain. One of the best I've ever seen. Can't say it enough. Great video. Loved the detail you went into.

I dont understand why people find him terrifying or calling him evil. He makes wishes come true. nothing more, nothing less. He didnt murder anybody for no reason. I bet the man that got a spoon in his eye was a criminal or so. Odimm seems to punish the people that have done bad things. And grants their wishes for those who made good things in their lifes. Also odimm sees geralt as a true ally, a friend. He didnt made a pact with him, he shared favors and never lied to geralt.

Saw a interesting detail about him in another video, almost every time O'dimm is first introduced in the cutscenes hes always positioned higher than Geralt, looking down at him while Geralt is looking up, first on the boat hes standing up looking down at Geralt whos sitting down, then the next meeting at the crossroads of Yantra, hes sitting atop the roadmarker, at the wedding hes on top of the stage announcing Geralt's and Shani's dance, after the 3rd task hes sitting on the table at the Oxenfurt inn, and final meeting he walks down from the moonlit sky. Haven't seen this mentioned before and i think it's a symbol of dominance and that O'dimm is above and beyond Geralt's abilites.

Jake Rawlings same here. Gaunter O'Dimm is constructed around the idea of an unfathomable entity that projects cosmic terror. Lovecraft used the exact same method to in his writings. O'Dimm fits exceptionally well into Lovecraftian literature.

He was the only character/entity in the game, which literarly spooked me, when i thought about him, but at the same time took a great interest. He seems to be so powerful in witcher universe, that he developed his own rules, which he is following, just for his own amusement. Like he said, he does not like simple solutions. Therefore it seemes, he made those rules for himself and follows them, only because he want. To have some chalenge.

I think O Dimm knows that people assume Witchers to have no emotions due to mutation, but what he means by "lets talk about it later" is that he knows Geralt has emotions and sometimes Geralt uses the "WItchers have no emotion" excuse when hes called out.

Weird to mention some eldrich god reference but not ""Pan Twardowski" and the "Faust legend". Its core to Hearts of stone dlc when it comes to relationship between Gaunter O'dimm and Olgierd von everec. Obvious reference is meeting on the moon which is equivalent to meeting in Rome in "Pan Twardowski" story. Another possible reference is when scholar in Oxenfurt university mention story where individual outsmarted the thing and broke free from contract.(though Twardowski failed to fool the devil the concept itself likely taken from that story)

Very nicely done, I want to thank you for referring to the whole spoon situation - I have always found it puzzling and didn't know the quote. It makes a lot of sense now - with a snapped/shortened spoon you are bound to the devil much more closely than any other average person. Everyone is using spoons at some point or other (in the Witcher world that is), making them all reasonably "equal" in O'Dimm's eyes, but only a certain few have "their" spoons personally augmented by the devil himself, thus marking them and making them stand out in his eyes, if only for a while.

I believe that the idea behind crossroads being points of supernatural activity comes from the old celtic magic, which believed in the lay lines and their points of crossing, where its magic would rise to earth. Now, when it comes to christian stories about the devil, its interesting to notice how these crossroads form crosses, a symbol that can be holy or unholy given the situation.

This is plausible, and the very fact that the Witcher world does have some very direct influences to Lovecraft (in Dagon in game, and also perhaps the events in the book related to the mermaid and the bard), then why not have some more lovecraftian things hidden in plain sight. :)

Yeah there was a contradiction there he can’t feel anything...that would include rage...meaning that he just kills them cause he can...also it’s when olgrieds wife wants to get divorced is when he kills the parents meaning he made the deal after they payed off his debts at least in my mind...also olgried sacrificed his brother...seriously if you think about it...he deserves his punishment...I think O’Dimm is less of a devil and more like a slightly more cruel Q from Star Trek unlimited power doesn’t understand humans or mortals...but hates how some act so he punishes them...as a hobby...Beerus from dbz is a god of destruction he technically a villain and has caused more death then any other dbz character but that’s due to his position...I think O’Dimm is far to complicated to truly understand...

I would not say fear. I would say his experience told him that whatever O'dimm was it was better to play along. The one place I think Geralt actualy showed fear is when the Unseen Elder kills him. Other than that I think he mutations ''muted'' the fear. He knew he was in deep shit often but never really was fearful. He shows very little emotion through the game. Notable exceptions are mostly related to Ciri. When he finds her at the isle of mists and when he goes after the last crone in the bad ending.

I come back to this video for two reasons, he is one of the most creative and creepiest demons in gaming history and also how crazy would it be that he shows up in Cyberpunk 2077 along with Avallach and Ciri as a cameo, I can also see the quest that involves them. Not in the same quest mind you. That would be mic drop level amazing.

Out of all Geralt's adversaries spanning the Witcher games, Gaunter O'Dimm has to be my absolute favorite. What he is is never fully explained, though through dialogue and additional quest throughout The Witcher 3 and its DLC's give you enough to formulate your own opinion. That he loves to study and observe human behavior reminds me of Pan and Loki, that he grants "wishes" reminds me of Djinn\Genies, and that he makes contracts for souls reminds me of The Devil. He never lies, never cheats, and gives individuals exactly what they wished for. That the means of wish fulfillment often come with grim clauses are just a part of the greater plot O'Dimm plays. Everything is a game to him, a riddke, a test. Which is why he operates how he does. The "standing on the moon" clause was, in Olgeird's mind, literal. But because he never explicitly stated that it had to be the actual moon in the sky, there was an opening for O'Dimm to wiggle through. And that is the true crux of wish making - if one refrains from the specifics, there is always room for interpretation. And that is h ow O'Dimm generally always wins.

Gaunter O'Dimm is by far the most interesting monster/demon in the witcher 3. Geralt had no chance in killing him, yet he was able to beat him in his own game. The ending however of heart of stone left me unsatisfied I wanted master mirror's head.

Freddy Orlando we learn as we play the witcher that there are some creatures that even silver can't slay. It wouldn't surprise me that a character that is most likely more powerful than most higher vampires is unkillable.

+GUCCI Honestly, I would say "most higher vampires" is actually really off base. O'Dimm would probably run rings around ALL the higher vampires if it came to an actual violent confrontation. The reason that will never happen is because O'Dimm is so powerful that there's no fun in just killing things. He plays games, he even gives others a way to beat him because that's what makes it fun to him. He has literally no stake in the game beyond fucking with others. It's what makes him absolutely horrifying; there's no motive, no goal beyond fucking with others in horrifying ways. It's bloody glorious and terrifies me. It's pretty much the Witcher version of Nyarlethotep from the Lovecraft mythos.

22:25 "Strong alcohol was used to replenish alchemy items" Was this O'Dimm's doing, since Geralt was unconcious the whole time? If that's the case, is he doing this every time Geralt sleeps or meditates? It never made sense how Geralt's alchemy items always replenish themselves with strong alcohol every time he sleeps or meditates. Neither does the fact that Geralt never notices this. Apparently, O'Dimm is Geralt's secret bartender, who follows him around in the shadows and waits for him to become incapacitated so he can rifle through all his alchemy stuff and replenish everything for him. What a weirdo!

As soon as I got a feel for odimm as a possible inhuman at the start of HoS I knew I was playing with a real evil. When you later sit down at the pub with odimm, Geralt can ask what he really is and odimm gives you a truly scary look, like his entire demeanour changes and just gives you a straight answer of no you don’t

I wouldn’t say that we “beat” O’ Dim. He simply played an honest game and lost. If he wanted to win at all costs he clearly had the power to stop us, he could kill Geralt with a thought. But if he did that and fell back on his word he’d be no better than humans.

"How was he?" "He lived a life of love and knew no bitterness" - Crones directly prior to Ciri fighting them at Bald Mountain. Possible theme the developers ran with for both the Crones and Gaunter O'Dimm, to gain knowledge and power thru 'consuming' (taking of the soul/cannibalising) or possible connection between O'Dimm and the Crones?

A refernce to Polish romantic literature - Dziady by Adam Mickiewicz. He describes old pagan Lithuanian festival where peasants summon ghosts of ancestors, give them some wódka, and try to fix whatever keeps them in this world, and one of the ghosts can't get to heaven cause he never knew any bitternes in his life, so they give him pepper to save his soul.
