about Vesemir's age. The first witchers were created by mages between years 900 and 950 and some sort of "order of witchers" was born, they ended up splitting and went on their own ways to found the schools before the year 1,000. Having said that, current year in the games is 1270, if Vesemir is one if the first school of the wolf witchers he is at least 270 years old. but if he was part of the original order of witchers, then he was probably around 300.

The fatherly way Vesemir single handedly brought the Witcher’s battle at Kaer Morhen back from the brink of defeat was just inspiring. He grabbed Ciri and dove for cover with her behind a wall saving them from the frost attack. He picked up her sword and put it back in her sheathe while helping her to an upright position while Ciri was still dazed. When Eredin and his buddies tried to subdue them, Vesemir fought, blowing her away to safety with Aard so she had a moment to either run or attack. When She wouldn’t run, he forced her to by defiantly gizzard stabbing Imalrith knowing he would be killed in a fit of rage. Vesemir was the only reason they survived that encounter, and he acted like the hero he always discouraged his Witchers to be.

For visible aging to start for witchers they usually are passed 70 years of age before an average person can tell they're starting to age. So vesemir basically being old to witchers means he is freaking old old to us. It'd be like leonardo davinci still walking around alive and well
@Foxxie0kun4 жыл бұрын
Geralt is almost a hundred, himself. Witchers were first created around 270-300 years before the games. That means Vesemir is around 200, give or take a few decades. He's definitely not an Original Witcher, but he's not one of the young bucks like Geralt either.
@nickagriesti67085 жыл бұрын
I'm somewhat certain that Vesemir didn't know how to perform the trial of the grasses because the school of the wolf was never very keen on the alchemy aspect of wicthering, choosing, instead, to focus very heavily on a specific style of sword combat. With that in mind, Vesemir's status as the master fencing instructor would have meant that he was a fairly prominent member of the order of the wolf.
@hrothgar85215 жыл бұрын
The trials were performed by rogue wizards. The elder witchers that may have been present during the trials all died during the siege where they all got slain except vesimer. Being the master sword instructor doesnt really insinuate that he wouldve been apart of the trials.

vesemir says that geralt is near century old himself so i kinda always assumed vesemir is around two centuries old. witchers were created around three hundred years before the games so he definitely cant be older - or as old since he definitely wasnt among the first witchers to be created.
@mattiasandersson86933 жыл бұрын
He could be older than that. The schools of Witchers were created 300 years before the books and games, but before that Witchers were basically knights in the service of the lords to fight monsters. Like the fairy tales of dragons and knights. Then the witchers decided to separate and form as separate order to fight for money, and became what we see in the stories. So technically, vesemir could be older than Kaer morhen, but it’s not certain, since we know so little about him. ( im not counting nightmare of the wolf )

It's easy to conceptualize Siri in certain ways because this is the inly time in entire history of the franchise that her adult self has been depicted, but come on man. The situation she was faced with was the setting for that reaction. She was prepared to sacrifice herself. She was not prepared to see somebody sacrifice themselves for her. Vesemir's death bothered me. Yes he made an honorable sacrifice to save Ciri, and it's true a witcher never dies in his bed. I just hoped that the old witcher could know peace in that life. Even if just for a brief moment.
@melhupby5 жыл бұрын
He did. He had foster sons in Geralt, Lambert and Eskel and a foster granddaughter in Ciri, he lived out his twilight decades in a peaceful beautiful forest surrounded by lakes and mountains, in a castle that had been his home for centuries and full of endless memories. As far as _humans_ go that's an incredibly peaceful retirement. For a Witcher, I'd say that's as unheard of as one making it close to a thousand years old.

If I remember from the books, the law of surprise thing is just an overdone myth that witchers use as a story, and most boys turned into witchers are just coming from poverty or orphanage and are not "won" via that law. In "a question of price" Geralt tells a story about he himself being claimed by Kaer Morhen witchers due to the law of surprise, but later it's revealed that this is not true at all, he was just abandoned by his mother and found by Vesemir.

verbal graffiti that isn’t confirmed by anyone. Even if it’s likely, “which CDPR has made clear it ISNT” it’s disingenuous to spread misinformation.

@@RadialNoah cdpr confirmed theyd be returning to witcher after cyberpunk. No details besides that it wont be focused on geralt, but definite confirmation
@RadialNoah4 жыл бұрын
plack_ benis if you noticed, my comment was 7 months ago, and the comments I was responding to were over a year ago. There was absolutely no “confirmation” at the time. CDPR for the longest time had been stating that another Witcher game would probably happen, but they had no actual plans, and would be many years away. Only recently have there been confirmations on it happening after Cyberpunk 2077.

It was hited several times in the books, that Magic used to perform Trails, or enhance Witcher amulets (and possibly, 'silver') swords was uknown and both compelling and frightening even for Mage Guild. Yennefer was scared to touch the medalion when she had a chance.
