Charlie Watts and Bill Wyman had such a deep pocket, such a great groove.... they were simply awesome together. As great as Mick and the the front line of the band were, none of it matters if the foundation wasn't strong. Watts could play jazz and other styles, too; he was the real deal. very versatile musician.

Like you, I was 10 when this song came out and my parents were similarly horrified. They were only in their thirties at the time but they seemed really old to me. They hated me playing the Stones so much that they bought me my own record player so I could play their song in my bedroom instead of the main family room. They bought me High Tide and Green Grass for my birthday when it came out. They were even more horrified when I started playing Jimi Hendrix and decided the Stones were not so bad after all and were no longer banished to the bedroom.

@VirreFriberg splitting hairs. The band had been formed for what, 7 or 8 months, before Bill and Charlie had joined. This is the original recording line-up, which maintained with Decca basically up to the end of the 60s.
