Dear Bob: I've been watching Dr. Ashkenden's KZbin channel, and I am deeply deeply saddened to hear of Dr. Ashkenden's "schismatic opinions" towards Our Beloved Pope. Please. I am brought to tears to watch his "chuckle and disrespectful laughter" towards Our Beloved Pope when speaking of his writings. Perhaps he doesn't know of the "beautiful faith" it takes to pray and love Our Beloved Pope. I will not be tuning in to his channel at all. I let him know that. I will pray for him to renew his love for all persons and put on the love of Christ for all persons for which Our Beloved Pope has this inside himself living with Jesus with him. I have to listen to Father Iannuzzi to confirm my love for our magisterium! Father Iannuzzi is blessed and beautiful!

Dr Ashenden has many videos and I have only seen several. I have not seen him express "schismatic opinions" - which would be opinions contradicting the Faith. If you point me to a specific video, I will gladly watch it.

Dr. Ashenden is no schismatic. He encourages no one to be in schism with the pope or the See of Peter. He has expressed legitimate criticisms of Pope Francis which is absolutely allowed. He has criticized Pope Francis’ words and actions which are seemingly or directly at odds with the Faith. Many Catholics have this honesty bizarre idea that it is somehow impossible for a sitting pope to utter falsehoods or to be a bad person. History does not bear that out at all. It frankly treats the papacy like an idol. The pope’s job is to confirm the brethren in the faith; he can fail to do so. He is the vicar of Christ, not Christ himself.

You are correct. It is licit to disagree with the Pope when his opinion or actions violate Faith or Morals or when the Pope offers opinions on matters that have nothing to do with Faith or Morals, such as, global warming. Unfortunately, ultramontanism is just one more heresy that exists among many. Even worse, there are people who should know better who are promoting this heresy.

I've heard him speak of his opinion against the Pope on Fiducie Supplicans, on Fernandez' past book on kissing and bases this as "not warranting of Cardinal behavior." I commented that as a widow I would have loved that book with my husband. I'm not sure it's worth commenting on writings that really are quite beautiful for lay married people. Unfortunately, Cardinal Fernandez' book is no longer in print. And when one of his talk mates on the show speak of Pope Francis, he was chuckling with disrespect. I'm sure Dr. Ashenden is a good man, but he must know that commenting publically against the Pope, is not humility. I'll send you the links. Thank you Bob. How I love Our Beloved Pope. How much courage has he had to write Fiducie Supplicans to be able to help the most marginalized of our society. Hi Bob: I went back to check on the videos and they've removed my comments. As Dr Ashenden insinuated, the Anglican Church has fallen apart. When I mentioned that entering the Catholic Church today was like enlisting for the front-line in the war against Apostasy, he retorted that leaving the Anglican Church for Rome was like leaving Dunkirk for Normandy during WWII.

That won't happen because the monarch 's role in the CofE is knitted into the fabric if the British Constitution. It's not just a principle of Charles converting, it would require a complete top to bottom re write of British Constitutional law for the last 400 years. What MIGHT happen is some arrangement utilizing the Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham which Blessed Benedict established as a route to allow Anglicans to become one with the Catholic Church whislt retaining much of their traditions and liturgy. With a bit of tweaking, it is not inconceivable that the British Constitution could be woven into this but it wouldn't be easy and would take decades to resolve.
