Nice job Ling!!! I've been cooking since I was a child because I had grandmothers and great-aunties and uncles who cooked for most family weddings or were just fantastic cooks. And all my cousins and I were little helpers while they cooked. I was so blessed to be in charge of a church kitchen in Atlanta for 11 yrs and made wedding cakes as well. So I know how terrifying it can be to cook if it's not your thing. I commend you for jumping in and putting your own spin on the recipe. You added the things your hubby likes and that's how you do the darn thing my Sista... Soup is a great meal up here in Connecticut.. I'm in Danbury and I know your temperatures aren't usually as cold as mine up here but I love winter soup recipes. You can find them on internet or KZbin videos are great to learn from. Again, I'm proud of you for showing everyone how good it is to step out of your comfort zone and go for it.... Just remember when you finally find spices in a dish, like this one you know you can put them together again. You could make a sweet potaoe and carrot ginger soup omit the chicken! My dear I am a Nigerian born and raised Igbo woman, and my hubby is also Nigerian born and raised Igbo man, we live in the US and when I tell you that it is not easy to cook for my family everyday, cos there's school, work and 3 kids under the age of 9, so a little advice choose a day in the week, Cook and store in the freezer and refrigerator, it makes your life easier.
