Great video, great channel! . Can I ask you exposure time and gain that you use normally? I have the same camera and f4 newton and I have doubts. Thanks a lot from Spain!

Hey, Thanks Ricardo! With the Triad Ultra I use default gain and offset with 300s sub exposures and have found it to be critical to take flats. Other that that, it is an amazing filter and reveals beautiful faint detail I never thought imaginable for OSC. If you plan to buy it, please consider using my affiliate link with OptCorp, it helps support my channel! Thanks again. Radian Telescopes 2" Triad Ultra Quad-band Narrowband filter bit.ly/3kWBSMda

Hey gnasher, sorry I couldn't respond to your camera comment, it popped me out of live chat. I was trying to respond back and say to make sure you figure out your image scale before you choose, perhaps you already know that, but wanted to make sure you checked it. Thanks for watching!

@@astroedsastrophotographych4562 Everyone popped out of the chat. Guess it's a YT thing. Took me a few postings until I realized I was talking to myself. LOL. I checked the pixel size etc regarding over- and undersampling. That is ok. My "problem" us that I can't decide between the ASI294MCP and the 533MCP because of the field of view. Many targets are quite big so that I would have to do mosaics with the 533. But the square sensor makes the targeting and framing easier. But on the other hand I like to capture smaller areas and details - a plus for the 533. The 533 also has no amp glow. So it's a decision between resolution (294 better), framing (533 easier), amp glow (533 none), picture format (294 better). If there would be an affordable and good 0.5 reducer for Newtons I guess I would take the 533. But I found only an 0.7 with flattner for a price just below the 533 it self. In stellarium both look good. I need a lottery win. ;) Btw. I have a 150/750mm Newtonian.

@@astroedsastrophotographych4562 thanks. I’m going to do something taboo and use a Maksutov as a primary imaging rig. Lol! It’s not fun if it’s not difficult I guess. I ordered the Atlas 2 mount, the Orion branded version of the EQ6-R pro. I did that just to be different. I guess the same is true of the Mak. I love your work with the Newtonian. More people should see it. I’ll go so far as to say I think it’s better than Galactic Hunters early work with the newt. Color rendering is really fantastic. I’m waiting on the mount and a bunch of spacers to complete my new rig. I’m on the fence between dual mounting it with an ST80 as a guider or going OAG. I might even build a top mount lol. It’s going to be a very slow setup but what the hell. The Maksutov is my absolute favorite optical design despite a few weaknesses. The Atlas upgrade has to do with guiding proficiency. That LX-85 I had wouldn’t get the expo time required. I’m rambling. Merry Christmas man.
@astroedsastrophotographych45624 жыл бұрын
That all sounds exciting Garnett! I appreciate the compliments too! I need to look more into the optics of the maksutov, however if I recall I thought they have larger f-ratios? Anyways, Merry Christmas!

Not much to add-great video and inspiring image. Your processing skills are artistic. These videos are pushing me to even get a newt astrograph once my processing skills improve. Just upgraded mount from AVX (which will serve as a backup) to a CGEM II, which should be beefy enough to carry a newt.

Hi, love your videos. I have recently purchased asi294mc pro as well. I also take photos with a dual-narrowband filter in a heavily light polluted city (Hong Kong). However, when I shoot with the narrowband filter, there are weird red bands in each shot and calibrating with flat frames only makes the results worse. I looked up online and a few threads on cloudy nights have also been discussing this issue. I wonder if you have the same problem. If you do, how do you calibrate your light frames? Thank you.
@astroedsastrophotographych45624 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Strange issue you are experiencing! I have not dealt with these red bands before... if I come across anything that can help, I will let you i know.
