everything the guy is saying is true, i was that student who sometimes ate from wits dustbins(lol, i would watchout for anyone who might see me) and quickly check for a heavy container. that container often had barely eaten burgers/pizza from th Dining Hall. yah it was rough... hope my kids will never face that, it was humiliating at times, scavenging for food on campus, yeses. hungry , having to sleep at the libra and woken up by the vacuum at 24hr library. the sad thing is that i never completed that degree and im only now doing my final year in MiningEng at UJ this is after decided to return to school. and im 30yrs old. The story hurts. What hurts the most is the unjust criminal charge, which am sure was manufactured and manipulated by business. Yet another failure by the ANC that did nothing and failed to protect their own. This guy is a fighter. A typical EFF fighter too. This man must be a Minister of Education at some point. He understands the space very well... but he must join EFF. This guy would make a better Minister of Higher Education than Blade. Yet another reason why the old age ANC must go to old age home

Mcebo articulates well the struggles of Black students especially at tertiary level. The saddest part is that these struggles were soo normalised to an extent that I think our parents would be shocked/hurt to hear them being articulated in this manner. We don't really thank the student governing bodies enough for the sacrifices they made because they were also registered students with their own struggles, but they were willing to put themselves in the frontline and fight for students rights. We need to do better. Government and the private sector really need to do better. We cannot be having students in 2024 still with the same struggles we suffered. Thank you for this episode, Mr Mashabela🙏🏾

It's true, whn the English class passed higher the white lecturer would be fired and replaced with the a lecturer from an Afrikaans class. I would go to my colored hostel mate for scope. I only learned this in my exams for 3rd year. There was a time when u got an automatic pass if u got 70%.This one yr we got 69% or 68% more than 10 of us and we were denied an extra 1% unlike other semesters with the white kids. Our number to 3rd and 4th yr drastically lowered. We were nvr told about moot courts or other activities. No wonder our graduation classes were always small for certain degrees. It's true all he says about the system

I think as Africans we need to talk about our obsession with voting. We over estimate the impact of a vote in Africa. In the continent, when its election time people die and the winners then go against the very wishes of the voters. You see people in shacks being used to vote but they never leave those dire conditions. Worse still, elections are always backed by Europe...they fund and send observers.... Ask yourself why. I'm not saying people must not vote...but at this point, a national dialogue is more pressing than a vote. Best wishes South Africa this 2024!!!!
