It strikes me that (especially) the symphonic metal scene chooses such deep (illuminating) subjects as the theme for their songs. Much more than ordinary pop groups. And that, together with the appropriate framing, is exactly what attracts me in their genre.

On the early albums Sharon did sound VERY like kate Bush ( in a good way!), and they did a cover of 'running up that hill' cos Sharon is a fan :) Try listening to 'The Cage', its from the same mother earth album, Sharon sounds soooooo like Kate Bush on that song!
