Thanks for this review. I just purchased the Withings Body Smart Scale (2023 model), which may be different from the product in this review but seems to have the same features. After hearing about the issues here and in other places, I did some preparation before setting up my new scale. First, I went to the Withings website and created an account, including manually entering my approximate weight. Then, I installed the Withings app on my iPhone 14 Pro and logged into my new account. (I also linked it to Apple Health app so I can get the scale data over there as well, although this step is optional.) Next (importantly), I unboxed the scale and opened the app on my phone *before* pulling the battery tab out. As soon as the scale turned on, the app recognized it. I followed all of the setup steps in the app including setting up the Wi-Fi. Once that was done, I stepped on the scale and it immediately loaded my weight and other data into the app. The setup was quick and flawless. Maybe the product or software has been improved, or maybe my prep steps helped, but either way things with my new scale are nothing like what Erin experienced with hers. So far so good and for what it's worth the weight measurements are in line with my old mechanical scale.

I bought this scale back when it first came out. I've moved several times and had a couple of different phones. Overall, I have not experienced the issues that you had. My scale has worked pretty well but I rely on my watch for the more advanced body calculations and I can compare the readings. I had fit bit scales b4 my withings body+ and I had plenty of issues with those.

I am quite satisfied with my Withings Body+. The scale connected after a few trouble shooting: you need to remove the battery, push on the factory reset button and put the battery back.I am glad I did not rely on this review and bought the scale.

Wow. Polar opposite experience. I've had the Withings blood pressure monitor for a while so i already had a profile so to speak. I bought the Body + scale and my experience couldn't have been more opposite to yours. As soon as i pulled the tab to connect the batteries, the app immediately recognized the scale nearby. Everything has worked flawlessly from day one. The only weird thing that I've noticed is that, buried in the settings menu is a "locate your scale" gps type feature. For some reason, it kept showing my scale in downtown St. Louis lol. I'm a truck driver and had driven somewhat near (30 miles or so away) that area several days prior. All in all, so far, I'm pleased with my purchase. As a side note, I've never watched any of your other videos, so i don't know your style or personality. That being said, it was overwhelmingly obvious very early in your review that you didn’t like this scale. I found it a little difficult to watch all the way through. Your experience, if accurate, doesn't seem at all in line with the majority of others' experience with Withings. And to make a final assessment that "years later" Withings hasn't improved the setup process seemed way overboard and factually inaccurate.

I recently purchased and tried newer 2023 model Withings Body Smart Scale and I see exactly SAME issues as in this video! I cannot make it to work just with Bluetooth though they said it can work without Wi-Fi. Even with Wi-Fi ON it is not working as expected. Always issues with recognizing me when I stay on device (even though ONLY my profile was added to device). I'm going to return this scale back. I don't think it is worth to spend so much effort and time to make a successful measurement on a smart scale. Instead of making a good working software through the years (I'm referring to this video), they adding a useless features, like displaying a weather temperature on the scales...

I own 4 Withings products - the cardio scale, thermo, the sleeping pad and the blood pressure monitor, all works as it should, no problems at all.

Incase people are not aware about these scales and possible happens with all of their devices. if you dont disassociate it from your account. you can still locate where the device is years after you sold it on or sent it back to the retailer. which means everybody thats had their hands on that device can easily see where its located, and it just takes a simple match up with something like google earth to gain the full address. i did mention this to the company and they were really bothered. my issues with the device as to why i returned it, was that throughout my entire time of a year or so of owning it, the weight was soldi, and then literally over night it went from 365lbs to 395lbs. it would also send my mums data to my phone and my data to hers, and we have completely different phones. the connectivity was also a major issue, there were many times that data wasnt being sent for months, only to randomly send a weight or two. it would also refuse to connect

Wow. We have an older "Body Cardio" one (before Withings bought the firm). This one charged via a USB Cable (not AA batteries) and seems to work fine.

After three years my Withings Body + scale is heading to the trash. I'm so sick of the withing App BS at least once a year the Withings app stops registering any data. They can put this scale in a trash can as that's the only place it belongs.

It's acting as though you have incorrectly entered your weight as 68lbs and then it couldn't match you up with the heavier weight readings and thought it was a separate person doing the other readings for whom it did not have an account for, I am assuming it was just confused from that point onward even after you merged some readings over. 68kgs is 150lbs which seems ballpark to what you were measuring so maybe you put in your weight as kgs while it was in lbs setting and that's what caused the issues? or maybe some internal issues caused a mix up between kgs and lbs? Either way, I've recently purchased the new Withings Body Smart and so far it has worked flawlessly. You could probably give one a go from a place with a good return policy and hopefully it works much better than this one has for you otherwise can return it also.

I bought this scale yesterday. The app asks you, your current weight, so the scale will know it's you, when you first use it. It all worked well, during & after the initial setup. The only thing that wasn't explained is that there's no button to press before you get on the scale. It recognises that someone is on it, by sensing weight being applied and that it's a specific individual by comparing the measured weight to known users. All body composition data freely appeared after weighing me for the 2nd time. The scale only syncs data, after being used.

Withings should get their head out of the sand. With the plethora of products on the market they should refine the user experience. I, too, have nothing good to say about this scale or how it interacts with the app. Their watch, no problems, other than it will gain about a minute per day if left unchecked by the app, and it will connect to the app trouble free when prompted. And I'm amazed you got 18 months of battery life, I typically get about 4 months. Duracell or Eveready.

I have third Withings/Nokia scale and still problems with WiFi connection (they use old module, not support WPA2, ...) and with latest 2023 I cant use WiFi, only BT. App is too complicated, pushing data that I wan't and, because I have thousands of measurments, while I explore whole data, my iPhone (now 15 Pro, but was same with 13 mini, 12 mini) get wery hot. I will replace it with other brand.

I have one as well and never had any issues all the people that I know that have several of their products also didn't have any issue. For a precise review try android,apple and different people for your test to prevent user errors or even phone related errors caused by software versions etc etc. Cause of it I need to take your review in this video with a grain of salt. I love this scale. I've had no issues setting it up and integrating it with my diet/workout app. I guess to each his own, but I ordered another scale before this one and it was junk. This scale is awesome.

Good review. I bought one of these - not fit for purpose. Several frustrating days later I took it back and got a refund. Why? I am an Engineer so please forgive any techy speak... The scales and the Android app that is an essential part of the overall solution were clearly developed by separate teams - who have obviously not spoken to each other much either during development or since. My evidence? There is a downloadable manual for the scale which only covers the functionality of the physical device and says "See the app" for any problem/question that involves both the app and the scales - which is all of them since you can't do anything useful like weigh yourself and record the result without the app. Support for the app is typically lightweight and relies heavily on FAQ and other vague nonsense. One of my first questions was "How do I set up a second person to use this scale?" In the app there is an "Add user" menu item but no information about how this works when I want to add a second person using their own phone with another copy of the app. Do they have to use their phone with another copy of the app or can they use mine? Once I had added a second person on my phone it was then unable to switch between displaying my data or the second persons data and relentlessly showed a confused mixture of both. After many happy hours disappearing into the internet rabbit hole that masquerades as "Support" it seems there is an assumption that a second person will have their own phone with their own account. In which case why have "Add user" in the app? I asked. Noone knew.

I bought a Withings Body+ scale recently, and will never buy another product from that company again. I am the only registered user on the scale, and if my weight fluctuates more than 6 or 7 lbs between readings, it refuses to assign new readings to me, which means it doesn't do the body fat percentage either, wasting the reading. Given that a gallon of water weighs 8 pounds, and I can easily lose that much during a run, this makes the scale functionally useless to me. I want to get a reading before and after my run, and it simply won't do it. This is especially frustrating because *I AM THE ONLY USER ON THE SCALE*. Whoever programmed this software clearly does not use the product. And if they do, they clearly do not run.

I brought this exact same scale 3 years again worked like a charm always displayed body fat percentage and other data I managed to loss weight and stopped using it until recently after 3 years my weight has piled back on and I need to track my weight daily - however, body fat percentage didn't display as well as the other data except for just the body weight, In Australia there are no call centers to call I had to rely on google, I unpair the scale and disassociated the scale from the app and even deleted my account and sign up for a new account and also reset the scale ....its being working I also have the watch pair to the app fingers crossed everything is working fine oooo and I will not add another account on the app I will just have the single account

I just set mine up with a few glitches. I had to factory reset twice before I got all the measurements (body fat, etc). My scale slipped on my hardwood floor a few times when I stepped on it so that’s a potential safety hazard for me as I’m 70 years old. I think that won’t be an issue if I step on it the right way, but still. Not sure I will keep it as I’m not sure I need to know all the data on body measurements. I think just my good digital scale is fine. Think I may return it.

Completely agree. I had exactly the same issues. Manually added my weights as it didn’t recognize me. Still does not after doing so 10 times. Factory reset, still the same. So many ppl being extremely rude as they had no bother. I teach Technology so I am not in the habit of having issues with such things. A quick google search reveals the same issues across the web. I’m returning them. My older scales are better and these were meant to be an upgrade. Withings = no thanks.

1st issue is as with any of these types of equipment it is essential that it has enough data so it does not help to expect a series of data after a couple of weigh ins. Next thing is read instructions before you get going...... Then we have problems in connections...... close to the modem is good if you can..... When data does not read right you go for handyman's reset every time...that is take out the batteries, switch off wi fi...and phone and switch all back on again with the scale being the last one to power up........ It was meant for a guy anyway...LOL
