Maddie is far easier on Janelle than I am on my mother for keeping my sister an I in the abusive situation until I was 15 years old and finally escaped to my Dad’s. The thing is, my mother always has justification for her actions and doesn’t ever take responsibility for anything. She was also abusive to us. I know you KNOW. I’m glad the older kids are making their own way and doing things for themselves that are healthy. My hope is that they all can work through their traumas and find peace. I know they do talk more about mental health awareness as well and I think that is great. I was very scared for all of them! I hope you have a great rest of your week! Hugs! 💖

For some reason, setting healthy boundaries is kind of a new phenomenon, which is really great. So many of us gen-xers were raised with the expectations of obeying our parents unquestioningly as well - and that typically continued through college. Once out and on our own (i.e. financially independent) we started to realize how we differed from our parents, and as we had our own kids we started to question our parents actual parenting and looked at how WE wanted to parent. I’m glad that my kids are looking more critically at the world, even if it is kind of painful when they look more critically at myself and my husband. I’m glad that they are recognizing toxic relationships and where to draw lines. Our goals as parents were always to raise kids who did life better than we did, and for now I think they are on that path. ❤❤❤

I’m a boomer. I raised my kids to have their own opinion. Their own thoughts and beliefs. Bc we didn’t have that Privilage. We got beat. I remember my son saying when he was older, why didn’t you stop me from doing “that”, why didn’t you force me?” I had to laugh. No matter what you do as a parent, something will be wrong. But I never took my kid’s personally. They were their own master and I love them no matter what🤗

True about Janelle, Katie, on Janelle and her lack of accountability and self-reflection. I think Janelle used to feel smug about feeling emotionally connected to Kody. I am sure Janelle and Kody would brutally disparage Meri and Christine. I honestly think Christine sacrificed the most for that family. Janelle takes pride in having a career. Christine has a lot of traits that could have made her a successful career person.
@missJolie85Ай бұрын
Janelle left the family for a few years because of conflicts with Meri, so I kind of doubt she had this smugness and huge connection with Kody. Not to mention that Meri was the favorite wife for a while, that is also in the book.

Perhaps *all* the "children of TLC" would be interested in a class action lawsuit? TLC being held responsible for *ALL* the lives of the children of multiple families, that were destroyed because the TLC didn't place any importance on the health and wellbeing of the unprotected minors they forced to perform on TV.

I’m so impressed that Maddie at such a young age spoke up to Robyn. I fear for Aurora and Brianna if she refuses to let her kids have any thoughts of their own. That a new perceptive to me on Janelle. Realizations of how she treated Meri in the beginning and the facts that she used Christine being reflected back, it's true. @indianlotus1580Ай бұрын
My take on Janelle is her inability to be the "independent" woman she claims she is. She can not do anything on her own without having to cling to someone else to catch her. For example, she probably married right out of high school to get away from her parents. She moves in with Kody and Mari after her first divorce. And when Christine left the family, it appeared to me in the beginning she was trying to ride on her coat-tail and maybe become a sister-wife with Christine and David. NOW, in trying to get away from Kody, she is latching on to Maddy.

Jenelle has been a deadbeat parent for years. She didn’t put her kids first. She once admitted to not coming home after work so she could relax and get dinner and see a movie. She kept the books, she was Kody’s right hand man. She let Kody’s wishes override the well-being of her kids. Jenelle won’t speak too badly about Kody, she was very much complicit in all his fraud schemes.
