SEGA music is already available on Spotify/Apple Music/etc. As is Square's. This is what Nintendo should have done
@WaddleDee10524 күн бұрын
Nintendo's only doing this cause they'd have to share the revenue with Spotify/etc if they didn't make their own app. Also Nintendo Music doesn't credits the artists, which they might have to on Spotify. Nintendo doesn't want kids and Nintendo-Adults to think about the actual people that make their music; just 'Nintendo'.
@xephyrxero24 күн бұрын
@WaddleDee105 but with the current model, they pay for it thru the Nintendo Online subscription that they already have. If they were on third parties, they'd be receiving additional money
@Gobsmac24 күн бұрын
@@WaddleDee105Sadly, Nintendo is far from the only JP publisher that doesn't credit composers on streaming platforms. Even companies like Sega and Namco are really inconsistent about it, and a ton of their stuff is on Spotify.

@@xephyrxeroSo Nintendo actually pro-consumer this time? They actually add benefits exclusively to their consumer for this case
@xephyrxero22 күн бұрын
@@thieftheodore no, it's not pro consumer. It's much less convenient to have to switch to another app just to hear Nintendo music. We should be able to intersperse it with all our other music where it already resides. I think your right with Nintendo reaching hard with the music app. It really does seem like a way to put some control back into their music IP's from youtubers and internet content creators in general. I can't argue with that. But I do also agree that Sega has a wider variety in music on that front. Sonic; obviously. They could have a collection with Yuzo Koshiro, Space Channel 5, Samba De Amigo, Outrun, Jet set Radio, various AM2 tracks, some of the older western stuff by musicians like Spencer Nilsen 'new age' Ecco the Dolphin soundtracks. I feel like on Sony's side, maybe they could find some good music. But they would have to work with various partners or do a col lab with Sony music. The PS1 era always reminds me of 90's era licensed music. Like The Prodigy, Orbital, Chemical Brothers,', etc. Very techno / industrial / house tier stuff.

Honestly I think Nintendo Music is genius level marketing. By locking their music on an app and curating their music by vibe, franchise, and character, they effectively get you to listen to music from games you would have never played, and potentially get you interested in that game. Music is the most casual gateway drug to a crippling Splatoon addiction.
