It's crazy to think it's already been 100 days, feels like it was just last week in ways.

I was just there 3 days ago. I live in Kingsport, so I'm right up the road. I was down that was delivering donations in Marshall. I just uploaded a video of the industrial mess from that trip and one on 12/1. So sad. My heart is so heavy.

Great job !!! You truly see a better view of all the destruction that Helene caused this area ! Along the river will never be the same, enormous amount of trees are gone !!! Be nice if you could put together a video of all the bridges small & large that are gone. That would be a great video for the world to see ! Also check out the Davy Crockett Camp ground, all knee deep in mud, like it's not there ! Be a good video for sure !!

Nice to see how far Uncle Johnny’s hostel has come in 100 days. Too much damage to rebuild, so they tore down the old building and have the new improved building framed up! The Appalachian Trail comes right by here and they will have to do a reroute since the old bridge is what you see laying in the river bed. Nice drone work!

I’ve watched some of the Helene related videos on his Mountaincraft Outdoors channel. They are getting a lot of work done. His last video made me mad on behalf of the locals there (I’m in WNC). It was heartbreaking to see some of the changes made by the railroad that were not properly thought out. The landscape changes caused by the storm are disorienting enough. I work 911 and we had internet restored at our office a couple days before it was retorted at my home. I started watching some videos people were uploading and my heart was absolutely shattered. I knew several of the areas being shown, well, and could hardly recognize them anymore. I felt so bad for people that lived there in these community all their lives and could no longer get their bearings. The railroad bulldozing and blasting over a few remaining favorite spots was inconsiderate, to say the very least. I know they got a long, hard, road ahead of them. One of my cousins is over railroad repairs in WNC and they have made some bad decisions while rushing to rebuild, too. I’m glad people are calling it out whey they see it and making them slow down and think for a second.

Pardon any mistakes. I’m waiting on my allergy pills to kick in. My eyes are swollen up today. Don’t get me wrong. I love my cousin. He’s a good guy that will do anything he can to help you, and he’s one of many over track repairs, but always feel free to give him guff. 😂 Seriously. The railroad needs to listen to locals and hear their concerns and complaints.

The heaviness is felt by thousands, myself included. We live in Fairview. So much loss all around us. But for a little rise at the corner, we would have been washed away in Cane Creek. We can see where homes were, it's too much. Unless you're in it , ....

Wow 100 days and I feel like it was a week ago sometimes. It's rather unbelievable how that flood made the Nolichucky as wide as it is now. I was asking my husband if it was as wide as the river we lived near in the Netherlands years back and he said it's wider but the one in NL was much deeper and more rapid. My mind remembers it being half the width of what it is now. Do you think they will narrow it down and leave it as it is from Helene? Great video btw as usual!

@carriegarrisonvos4433 yeah i was walking around on what used to be Chestoa Beach today. And it was crazy how much the river has moved. I know they plan to do some river bank restoration in places but not sure that will really change much on the big scale. And thanks!

@@Offroadviking It would be a big project if they did try to put it back to it's original bounderies, but if people lost land, it would be nice for them to recuperate that much. Crazy how big the river is now!

The river is looking much better in places. That’s a relief. It will take them awhile to sort themselves out, and deal with the sediment. Some of the rains we have had will help with that.

@Offroadviking12 күн бұрын
@joewoodchuck3824 yeah, as far as cleanup goes the State (Tennessee side) has been contracting companies out to do that work as well as building back roads. Another contract was awarded today to a company that will be removing debris from the rivers.

@Offroadviking Tennessee is helping North Carolina then? But what about the people themselves? I keep hearing about some still living in tents.

@joewoodchuck3824 no, Tennessee working on Tennessee side. Tennessee got hit really badly as well. And as far as tents, yes, there are still some folks living in them.
