WITNESSING MY FIRST BIRTH AS A STUDENT MIDWIFE!

At Christmas I had the wonderful opportunity to witness a birth for the first time! I need 5 witnesses in total to be able to deliver a baby, so this helps to get me 1 step closer!
In this video, I talk about what happened, how I ended up on the labour ward (as I wasn't allocated there on the day), and how the birth went. Overall, it was so amazing! I'm so lucky to have had this experience so early into the course, and I wanted to share it with you all.

@@elliesjourneytomidwifery6142 finding it really good! A lot of work but so worth it. Had my OSCE in Jan and my first A&P exam last week so I’m glad they’re over! Can’t believe we’re almost finished first year!! Xx how are you doing??

@@Mr_Dejour there isn't any males in my cohort, there is a few in the other cohorts at my uni though! Are you going to be starting midwifery? I think it's a shame that there isn't a lot of males in the profession, but the ones that are do so well!

Sometimes we have to do assignments, but most of the time it's lectures when we are doing theory work x

Do you ever feel really awkward when your in the room, when you just have to watch the midwives getting on with everything and you can’t really do anything yet and would you say it’s easy to talk and get along with them (are they understanding?)

It's not that awkward as you're learning and taking everything in, and yeah it's usually quite easy to talk to the women as there's so many things you can chat about with them. They're usually very understanding too that you're learning x

Oh that’s good, I’m starting midwifery at Kingston in September and I’m so excited and it’s good to know that the situation isn’t too uncomfortable at the beginning and I’m praying that I have good midwife mentors who are easy to talk to and get on with on placements
