I don't get nearly as emotional for any other song as I do for this one. I was the caretaker for my grandfather before Dementia took him, so this song hits my soul. Watching my idol become, as Witt puts it, a shell of who I knew and eventually lose to the disease the year I got married really just cuts me deep, even 2 years later. Love this reaction man. I appreciate you doing this song

I have recently lost a beloved family member who had dementia. It is so awful to see them lose a piece of themselves all the time, with all their memories of loved ones and speech gradually fading away until they can't remember anything. It's a long grieving process.

It is called the longest goodbye. I helped my mom battle it for almost 16years and in just the last few months she no longer remembers me,. It really does hurt. It hurts knowing that you are dead to them in memory and not by choice.

in my family we give up our Jobs to take care of our elders , no one in my family has been in a retirement home because their home could be the only place or thing they are familiar with

Thank you. Momma has Dementia. She told a nurse I am "her good friend". Hurt is not a good word.
